hey guys looking to join a private club in perth, wat are ppls thoughts on the best private clubs hear taking into account pricing and me as a 22 yr old the best oppotunity for me to take golf further thanks

what area are you in?
southside there is Gssnells, Melville Glades, Fremantle, quality courses, fees are around $1500.
HIllview is a good course, fees are a bit cheaper around $1200.

Royal perth, you’re dreaming.

yeah im south do i need a agu handicap or can i get that after i join

I Maybe mistaken, but isn’t Hillview a public golf course and only WAGL and not AGU? Three mentioned above are all quite good having played them. There’s Hartfield too.

The handicap will come once you’re signed and completed 5 rounds with a member.

yeh hillview is public i think he ment to say hartfield ok thankss guys

Throw in Kwinana for a further south effort.

yeah meant Hartfield.

Kwinana is a very good option if you are near the freeway. Cheap, good course, good facilities.

Melville Glades is a rip off at the moment with +2000 for full membership.

Hartfield is a good course but in my limited opinion whilst playing the open there a few weeks ago its bloody hard. Greens were quick lots of trees to hit and dam hard if you dont get off the tee. Mid $1000 for fees but there are other fees like works levi and water ect

Gosnells is a bit micky mouse now that the had to change the course for Warton road Ranford road intersection a few years ago. The course and facilities are nice though. Very tight around the course though you need to be careful of the wayward shots from hitting you. Also $2000 for full members

I think kwinana is good but there a public days which i would think upset the members.

My pick kwinana

Once you pay the joining fee Royal Perth is actually quite reasonable in terms of membership fees.

Personally, there are a lot of courses in WA that locals seem to rate highly but in reality are not that great in the scheme of things.

At the end of the day you get what you pay for… funny that! :P

Pity you are 22, if yuo were 21 you could have got in cheaper as that is the cutoff at some clubs.

Depends also on how much cash you have – as you are joining young you have plenty of time to amortise the joining fee. You pay $4-6000 for the likes of Mt Lawley, Cottesloe, Royal Perth etc, up to almost $9k for Karrinyup but in most case you can apy this over several years

Rockingham – cheaper than Kwinana, and no levies! Approx $1100 per year, monthly payment options available, great social life.

thanks for all your input guys thinkin about kwinana cheers

Nomination is payed as a lump sum ;)

Nomination is payed as a lump sum ;)

Ummm yep nice one…. :P

Wish they were all like that might try and join a rich one…..

thanks for all your input guys thinkin about kwinana cheers

Seriously, check out Rockingham before you sign anything at Kwinana. New members get two months free (in next financial year) plus a free lesson with club pro, well worth it. Cheaper dues, no levies, I stress again, great social side!

Cheers,
Brett

k i will do that brett good on ya cheers for all ya help great forum

No – most clubs will allow this to be paid over years.

Karrinyup for example allows this to be paid in 10 installments over 5 years (if you are under 45)

Most of the others will have a similar deal, esp for younger folks

Hey Kennedy Bay is good value – top 20 course – cause i hear that mirvac are starting to develop in feb next year.

If you are over the age of 21 I think you will find that most clubs expect the nomination fee to be paid in full if you are joining as a new member.

If you were previously a junior who has only paid an installment of the nomination fee and not the whole ammount you would only be required to pay the remainder of the nomination fee not already paid.

It’s been a few years since I lived in Perth (10 to be exact), but I found the best course south of the river to be Meadow Springs.

I recommend Karrinyup and Mt Lawley imho.

One of the most underated courses in WA is Hartfield CC in Forrestfield. The members are friendly, the course is in great shape and the greens and getting super quick. Mate when Michael Dennis say’s the course is in the best nick he has ever seen it, the ground staff must be doing something right. Come along and have a round
