How poorly have you faired in comp?
I had -9 in par last Sunday, thats the worst ive gone by a fair margin.

When I first started playing, about two weeks into my golf life I think I hit a 12 stableford. Last week I hit a 28 and that gave me the sh*ts…

I also got a 12 pts in Stableford…. and to make it worse got them in 3 lots of 4…. the gods hated me that day….

Hcp was 13 at the time – 11 stab points. one of them there days when I shoulda stayed in bed.

17 points, felt like giving up…. The next week hit 40 points. Golf is a lovely game…

Thats nothing boys I hit a 134 total I had no H/C at that stage, in sat comp, took 19 on one hole dumped about 8 balls in to the water in front. Broke the record on another hole with a 21. Still I finshed with 3 pars on the back nine.
Week before I hit 84 off the stick.

20 points in stableford

Par comp a couple of months back, between our group of 4 we came in at minus 44. The par comp before that it was something like minus 38.

Stroke comp +4 teeing off on 9th. 14 shots later the hole and my round were over.

22 pts . Horrible weather. Felt I played ok until reality struck when the score was tallied.

16 Stableford points. Simply could not hit the f#ckin thing.

Never never never play golf after a really big night out, especially when in the tropics…!!

Still drunk on 1st tee, very hungover by 9th tee and starting to hurt…feeling dead by 14th.

Total of 19 points of which 7 were scored in two holes…...:):)

At least I had an excuse that day…. I have had equally crap games (with at least 8 more points but with no excuse whatsoever)

131 at a high school varsity tourney – in state team finals qualifying. The reason, my teammates were complete asshats and my coach was too. I quit after that. It was really funny being on JV and shooting 78-82’s and the varsity kids were shooting 85’s. The coach wondered why I didn’t like him.

8 down barwon heads no wind at all …. 18 pts 13th beach shitloads wind thought i played ok apart from 9 lost balls till i added up my points.

Finishing the round off with a terrible score and taking the punishment instead of being a pussy and taking NCR is a mark of respect

My first comp game as a junior at my club. This was a long time ago and I was paired with 3 older members two of whom “hated” juniors so I was petrified.

It was a par event and I had 17 down.

PT, brilliant effort just to finish. Most young punks would have called it quits after the first nine. How did you handle yourself that day? I’m tipping you might have won over even the most miserable of these blokes. Hope your rounds these days are played in a more relaxed fashion.

It was about 30 years ago and the two “gents” are long gone. Both of them were the same their whole lives and most members didn’t like them so they always played together, I wonder why.

That day I just kept my mouth shut except for the odd “good shot”, the other guy in the foursome talked to me but the other two never uttered a word. I had to be careful as if I had spat the dummy they would have reported me to the committee.

Today. First 6 holes… 5 wipes… Finished on 28 points..

Outdid myself today… 8 points on the front, 24 all up.

Ahh, amateurs. Shot a nett 87 on Sunday. Strangely enough I was hitting the ball pretty well on the whole, even stuck a pitching wedge 4 feet from the pin for a birdie on the 14th. Ripped some monster drives too – reached an uphill par 5 fringe with driver – 4 iron. Thanks to the Guru, I am starting to get some real lag and compression on – yeah baby!

But I had the yips big time. 43 putts – 19 putts on the first 6 holes alone. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh. If I had two-putted everything I would have had 35 points.

Unfortunately it was a stroke day and racking up two nines and an eleven turned my card into a rank embarassment. (Found the creek whenever I could.)

Also played alongside a couple of young bucks who were just that little bit too chirpy, and had been taught looooong pre-shot routines, even on their putts. 4 hrs 45 min later I was ready to give up the game for good.

Can’t remember the final score. It was a par comp and I scratched every hole on the front 9 the card looked like a step ladder
