Hi All, I am looking to get a few lessons, i had 5 courtesy of a voucher from my wife lessons from a pro at a local course but was not overly impressed by the guy. I wont name him or the course as I may be doing him an injustice as others may have worked well with him. I did the drills and also hit plenty of balls but results were not good after 1 to 2 lessons a month for 3 months. Any suggestions for coaches in the Sth East area of Melbourne in Lynbrook. Thanks Che

If you are joining Cranbourne, I think you will find the pro there is pretty good – Mark Auhl (I think he is still there). Otherwise, Mark Griffin at Beaconhills is excellent.

Not sure on Cranbourne waiting on tax check and weighing up options. They have a special 2K or so no joining fee so decent value Living where i do there is such a wealth of pay to play courses sandbelt area 20 minutes and peninsula 30 mins that $50 a game on the weekend as i am only a weekend player is a similar value and you get to play alot of different courses is the quandry. It is 5 minutes away so i may give him ago.

I can recommend Stuart Leong at Sandhirst. Stuart is AAA rated, holds a position with the PGA teaching Pro’s how to teach, is truly a gifted player and has an excellant repore with players of all ability. He uses all the latest technologyand is also knowledgable on golf specific exercising and weights. I don’t think he is cheap but in life you get what you pay for!! Book through the Proshop at Sandhirst. Regards, The Pilot

Sadly you dont get what you pay for, rather what has been accepted by the market whether it actually does the job or not. I’m also on the hunt for a golf coach, what mindset would you describe Stuart at having? How logical is his mind?

I can recommend David Cappaldo at Kingswood Golf Club. David is the Victorian Junior State coach and has spent time with Tiger’s coach Hank Haney from the USA. He is a straight to the point guy who will work with what ever level you are at. He has coached players who have gone onto the Europen Tour, women and juniors. You can even organise a lesson on course with him. That is worth the money because he was one of the longest hitters on tour. He has plenty of good stories to tell as well. Good luck

Try Gareth Jones/Craig Bishop at Patterson River. Both are excellent. Gareth in particular is Exc @ Short game techniques. Or Torie Leone @ MGA. Makes golf fun !!

Myshouldershurt, After reading your reply, I’m not convinced anybody has the same mindset as you. Good luck with your search Mr Spock. The Pilot

Hah! Sadly I have met very few people with the same mindset, and it also seems statistically that would be correct. Taint easy finding a golf coach.

Think you need a mental trained coach who can work out your wave length so that the info can be delivered in a a way that you can accept what is good info via a look, discuss your ideas on a subject at hand, then get said real idea into practice. Right now any info is not making it past your mental defenses. Hence no advances in getting the concepts and without that into the ball. Short lessons will be of zero help to you because of that.

If Butch Harmon is in Melbourne, give him a try ok.
You are kidding yourself if you think you can make it without hard-work. |

Guys, Time to put this to bed. I am going to give Cranbourne Pro a try. As mentioned I am considering joining the club so it may be an experience to meet people and get a feel for the place. I have played it a couple of times midweek and i must admit I do not notice the jewish thing although what to look for i am not sure. Ta
