I wouldn't have believed it was possible

Has anyone else seen this before?

Playing Sunday with a group of mates from footy, just a good laugh and a stretch after a Saturday night game, so not too serious. On the second hole one of the guys, who doesn’t play very often, teed up (possibly too high) and proceeded to try to belt the cover off the ball. He managed to make excellent contact with the tee (which flew about 20m), but the ball literally dropped down to the ground (if we’d let him pick it up it would have been on the hole from the tee). If i hadn’t seen it with my own eyes I wouldn’t have believed it was possible! Has anyone else seen this?

2nd question which probably should be in the rules discussion thread; we made him play it as it lay (he wanted to re tee it) poor bugger then topped his second and sent his third into the gully (5m in front of him). Was this correct procedure

3rd Question whilst his tee made the ladies tee comfortably, his 1st, 2nd and 3rd shots all failed to make the ladies markers – is that 3 rounds or does it only count for the tee shot

Cheers

1. Yes, I have seen something similar but not straight down in the same spot.; 2. Play it as it lies; and 3. 3 jugs. :)

I thought the rule was, if his drive is short of the ladie’s tee, he owes you all a drink!!!!

Its a FRAT – Failure to Reach Associates Tee – and beers all round….

My mates play the “ball fails to reach ladies and you have to complete the hole with your cock out” rule.

Funniest thing was a ball hitting a tree 50m up the fairway and rebounding to a foot our side of the red tees.

No i heard he has to run the course nude.

I thought it’s supposed to be a shout but it can be cancelled if one escapes with a Par or better.

I think that the punishment varies depending on the club. If you do it at Gloucester GC NSW its sevens of black for the group. This may sound lenient however several of the associates tees are in excess of 100m from the members tees, so there can be a large number of sevens to be drunk

I played at WentworthGC in Orange just last weekend and was told that if you did it in their thursday comp it was $20 for the kitty. Only payable once per round though.

I’ve seen a number of balls go substantial distance forward and hit something solid and retreat backwards, not only past the ladies tee, but behind where they were struck. I personally Hit a tree 57m (stepped it out in disgust) in front of the tee and the ball was about 20 ft above my head as it passed me on its way over the OB fence behind the tee.

Also saw one at Concord GC that skipped off the water of a lake, hit the rock retaining wall on the far side of the lake (about 80-90 m away) and then flew back over our heads finishing about 30m behind the tee.

My dirty shame, back when I recently re-took up golf, playing at a sandscrape course with two mates, with my old really thin driver. tee’ed ball up too high and belted the tee 10m’s but the ball didn’t move an inch. Now the embarrassment was too much I ran and got my tee (this was just a social round) tee’ed up again, don’t think they noticed as they chuckled on, I then repeated it once again! Quite surprised I’m still playing really.

3 jugs & a nudie run !!!

The rule aplies if his tee shot is short of the ladies tees not his second and third shot and yes play as lies and no i haven’t seen anything like that before.
