Hi Everyone, Well what a week – took far longer than we expected and it’s a huge change to the backend of how things work here. Sorry we were down for so long and I hope no-one suffered any withdrawal symptoms from the forums.

Some people will like the new look, some won’t but I think overtime it will become okay.

The features are bare on purpose and we’ll be keeping things just to what they need to be to get things done.

PM’s are almost finished as well as avatar upload and other features.

Always good to hear any feedback so please let us know your thoughts.

Change is always a difficult process even when there aren’t technical hitches so “good on you” I say.

Do I understand that you are saying that you’ll be adding more & more features as we go along? View new posts is the obvious one I am missing at the moment.

I think its a massive change but a good one in that. I run a forum and i know how hard it is for change. Good on you on the effort you put in to get this site up and running.

the best i could find in my limited time on the site is the “Recent Posts” link at the bottom…

does anyone know how i can change my profile? the little box at the top right hand side of my screen says my username is some weird word for some reason…. as opposed to “chiangstar” which is a weird word that resembles my name in some way

How do I get rid of all the ads down the right hand side? Is there a custom view?

site design looks better but the forums is a step backwards. font size is tiny, reply quote looks lame, no preview threads in the forum list, the ‘email us’ link on the right don’t work, the ads are annoying.

I agree with some of the posters above

1) where is “New posts since last visit” 2) The reply options are missing 3) I actially think the other site was easier to use from a forum perspective

However, the main site looks great. Just rever to the old forums?? If it aint broke….

I far prefer the old forums. This new style feels like a return to the very basic step like forums where each time a new person would reply it would move to the right by a small space. The ads down the right are annoying. A full page is needed for a forum otherwise it creates a sense of jumbled distortion which is generally quite frustrating, am I looking at the yellow pages, or a forum? The older style had far better styled borders to posts, users and generally the whole page. The colours/shades seperated sections of the page too if I remember correctly.

The older style was of the same for many other popular forums, and that in itself says that it’s a decent style to use, people are happy with its presentation and simplicity to use, really no reason to change.

Was the change dictated by bandwidth usage? As this new look is quite simple and bland and must have a lower usage.

I also had to create a new account because the site wouldnt recognise my old account. Was I deleted or have I missed the new forum login?

Hi Mate – no accounts have been deleted they are all there waiting. Simply follow the instructions and you’ll be logged in very quickly. We provided a link to email us or call us if you had a problem. We will email you now to your gmail account

Yes we are on to that – only happens if replying at bottom of the page. Will be fixed soon.

BTW you may ned to do a shift-reload or close your browser to enable the new CSS to come thru to style the forums. Once that is done you will see the new stuff.
