What was it, the best one? the prettiest? or the smartest? etc..
Label it, set the scene, and describe it.
Mine was my best course management one.
Was even to cap with and into the second last, was sitting 170m out on a long par four, straight line to pin, no bunkers. Could have gone 5 wood, but had been a bit scattery all day, so I went a punchy 3 iron. Thinking was: that it was a high percentage play, which would be at least straight, keeping out of trouble, and would at least land me close and my chipping was on song. Punched it sweet, watched it land, skip, and roll to the dead centre of the green, leaving a 12 footer. Loved it, and the walk to it...no bird, but got the tap in par. Felt good. Felt real good.

I would say the last one of the day, only because it meant that a cold beer was not far away! tongue.gif

Flushed Four iron downhill 230m, drawn off the tree to the target - just as I had planned (hoped)... nice

Played at Spring Valley last Sunday in a WGV event, absolute cr*ppiest round I've had in ages. Out of the full 18, I played eleven holes in +2 and seven in +20.

In any case, on the 18th I hit a fairly good drive leaving a 9-iron to the green. I managed to thin it (no surprise there), sending it far over the back, at least 10 if not more meters beyond the green. The whole area between the 18th and the practice green is as smooth as a baby's bum, so I take out the putter intent on not humiliating myself any further. I knocked it over the hillock protecting the back of the hole and the ball trickled down to within 6 feet of the pin.

My playing partners could only manage a quiet "that was handy" under their breath. Thankfully, I sank the putt for a par.

We were playing 4 ball. After duffing my tee shot 150M on the Par 4 360M 8th hole, I drew a 3 iron around trees into the front of the green. Two putted for par! I have never hit a shot like it. Just like I see on tv. The funny thing is, and may be a tip for future play, I imagined the shot and didn't even contemplate not making it.

I had two actually, the other was a flop shot from fluffy rough. I missed the green as usual on a Par 3 and landed in fluffy rough. I imagined the club sliding straight under but made sure I hit it hard enough and landed it inches from the cup. But then my playing partner chipped in for birdie so my shot was to no avail!

8th Hole, Par 3, Eagle Ridge (I know not my choice), 9 iron in hand, looked great of the tee, one bounce & in. My first hole in one.

Was it in a comp?

17th Hole 204m Par 3, been playing ok all day..

Hit a (what i think was perfect) 4 iron straight at the pin, it did not move from its original line and landed 5 foot from the pin.

Missed the putt and tapped in for par.

Then wiped the last (100m par 3) and lost in a countback..

My favourite shot from my last comp round...

24-Jun-2006.

A two foot tap in for par on the 9th at the Animal Farm to formally sign off and get the #$%^ out of there.

The one where I was dormie 3 down in pennant on Sunday and my opponent flew his tee shot into the left ti-tree on 16 West. Still lost the match, though.

par 5...my drive has found me 230m out, in the short cut of rough on the right hand side...

green has small front opening, surrounded by bunkers. pin cut back right, protected by right green-side bunker.

a man has his destiny. this was mine.

i plucked my 5 wood from my bag, revealed it's glistening head, lined up and slammed the ball to within 3 metres of the cup to have an eagle putt.

i had a semi.

Good to know, Wedge.

I aced the 5th (?) at National Ocean - anything that gets me off that course quicker is a good thing.

That's a par 4, good effort!

Not technically my last round,

But hit Driver , 3 wood into the 18th at Rosanna.

5 ft eagle putt...but missed sad.gif

But the 3 wood was a ripper

Best shot last round was my third on a long par 5. The hole goes straight for about a mile and a half smile.gif and then doglegs to the left with about 80m to the pin, with trees and bunkers shielding the left side.

I'd hit a blinder tee shot (a little over 200m into the wind, which is about as good as it gets for me) followed by a crap second shot with my 7-wood that went a little over 100m, leaving about 180 or so to the pin, if I cut over the trees and green. Ignoring the risks, I had another go with the 7-wood, knowing full well that it's usually only good for about 160m. I gave it an almighty whack, and caught it pure, sending it high over the trees with a slight draw that saw it land about two metres off the green, a good 20 metres longer than I can usually hit that club.

I then duffed the chip and three-putted for an eight sad.gif , but the feeling of nailing that 7-wood was so sweet...

Oh, and the same day I drilled a 20 footer for par with my new putter - probably the best putt I've ever hit.

Sank the best putt ever 2 weeks ago for birdie. Was just off the green and roughly 10 meters to the pin. Had to aim 45 degrees away from the hole and let the ball fall down a severe slope towards the cup. TBH, I was just hoping to 2 putt it.

Former Top 10 on the PGA Tour ISG Money List.

Last Sat at St Andrews Beach.

Playing the 9th Hole into the wind, had about 140m to a very raised green. The Pin was on a very small plateau at the front that is almost impossible to get the ball to stop on.

Hit a perfect 6 iron which pitched near the hole and stopped 4 feet away. Sunk the putt for a 3 for 4 points!

To make it even more enjoyable I had Richard Green (playing in the group behind) looking on!

What's the problem with a 7-wood.

I guess that's where I am going wrong?

What woods are in your bag Jack?

The previous week the 6th cost me shots when I found a hazard the runs down the right-side. It's an elevated tee and I usually use a 5-iron. I'd just walked off the 5th with a triple and the round was looking pretty ordinary.

I'm striking the ball well and it's Medal Day and the tees are back, but I pulled the 6-iron and declared to myself that I'm going to climb all over it and make the journey. It landed about 4m to the right, pin high.

It was a bit of a turning point, and although +7 through the first 5 holes I finished +13 for the day and played to my handicap.

351m par 4, pulled my drive into a tree and was left with 170m to the pin. Found the ball sitting on bare dirt so i took a 5 iron and hit a lovely draw, one bouce and checked 4ft from the pin.

Yes i missed the putt, D'oh!
