Golf in Bali

Am off to Bali in a few weeks and would love to squeeze in a game.
I believe it costs about US$150 for a game, a bit steep for me.

anyone have any contacts in the industry in Bali who may be able to reduce the costs a bit?
any help appreciated.

The best course to play is Nirwana at the Le Meridian Resort in Tanah Lot.

Absolutely AMAZING Greg Norman designed course. Half of it in the rice paddies, half of it by the ocean. One of the most visually appealing courses I have played.

You are right in that the rate is US$150. If you actually stay at the resort it then drops down to US$80 and some of the Room Packages include free golf.

I am actually heading there in June and plan on playing a few rounds and would be keen for any other "angles" for a reduced price.

Cheers

As StephenG42 says Nirwana is sensational and well worth the $$$. I have not been there in the last few years so I can't comment on the current condition. The first time I played it the condition was just awesome-on par with any resort course around the world. The second time there (about 18 months later), the course was still great but the condition had slipped.

Its the same with Bali Golf & Country Club @ Nusa Dua. Once upon a time it hosted a Johnie Walker event. Great layout but the course condition deteriorated each time I went back.

There are a few Companies that (supposedly) can organise golf at discount rates. Like everything in that part of the world I'd be very mindful of who you're giving your money too etc.

Enjoy & let us know how they play!

Everything in Bali is negotiable - coming from someone who goes there 3 -6 times a year

Nick.

Try telling that to Shapelle Corby.

that was negotiable.
She could have told the truth.
She just chose to stick to her version.
BUGGER ME WHERE DID THAT 4KG OF WEIGHT COME FROM?

lol - good point

Bali Handara Kasoido Country Club at Bedugul, up in the mountains. The temp. up there is beautiful.
Much cooler and less humidity than the coast. The course is in excellent nick(or was a year or so ago)
I have been told that is still the case. It is in an old volcano, just outside the town of Bedugul, with steep mountains and jungle on one side, and looking over a huge lake.
There are some deals to be had during the week, as it is almost deserted, but don't go on the weekend. Overnight accomodation golf and stay package is the go. Get a cab over to Beduglul for meals. Excellent and cheap.
The course I think is a P Thompson design. Big, undulating fairways with huge greens (sometimes three + breaks to the hole) and lots of bunkers. Get a caddie, as these guys are worth the price in entertainment value. Also they know the course like the back of their hands and will tell you all the places not to hit it, as quite a few greens are hidden from the tees. They can also read the greens a treat and will save you plenty of shots, whatever your hcap.
I've played it 6 times over 2 trips up there, and its worth it just to get out of the heat and away from the people on the coast. Best with some buddies, or try to hook up with a fellow traveller.
I'm getting jelous just thinking about it.
