Your longest drive ever?

Let's try to keep the flames out of this one - I wanna know, in metres, what was your longest single drive on a golf course. I don't care if it was downhill, off a cliff or bounced off a cart path, whatever - they all count. Personally, mine was at my home course. Nothing special, I just absolutely nutted one that I swung my arse off on, and it happened to go straight and long. It wasn't a serious shot, I'd expected it to go well out of bounds and had a couple of extra balls sitting on the tee box ready to hit. Ended up going 260m (360m hole, and it stopped right beside the 100m marker), which is massive for me - a good drive for me goes around 180m tops. So lets hear yours... Col

377 yards with the roll.

fast." - In memory of Greg Moore |

down hill, down wind, i hit one about 320m on the 13th at Brookwater - that would be my longest by a fair margin in calm conditions i hit a decent one on 5 at National Old and only had 6 iron in.

In Aus - Down Gale, over the hill with a rediculously lucky
bounce off the top on NSW's Number 5 par 5. Was only 55 from
the Green so thats about a 380. I sure a few will beat that on
here on the same hole
Overseas - Again, down gale at La Cala's (Spain) North
Course. The first tee is about 80 meters above the fairway. I
melted a driver, gave it the full kitchen sink treatment with
zero technique. First bounce 340m from the tee then rolled
another 60m so about 400m. Longest drive of the day there was 30m
past mine and only had a sand wedge in on the par 5

I'm with Moe. Same hole, similar result. Won me the long drive at a QHA golf day. Never been near that mark before or since.

385 yards (352 metres), in comp. No wind, downhill, great roll, dry hard summer fairway. I've also had a handful of others out around similar distances, but all those had assitance, heavy tailwind, cart path, bridge, etc. Goes without saying that my normal drives in serious rounds are nowhere near that long.

Longest drive went about 150km.
Hooked a ball on to a carriage of a goods train that was heading
to Wellington.

hit a few of 280-295m drives last week at Barnbougle with a very nice 20 knott prevailing NWerly.. Managed to catch my drives well on holes 8,9,10,11,14! The wind and roll was worth around 50m as I typically only fly it 220-230m. Like Moe, I've got a few out over 300m on the 13th at Brookwater.

the one i hit on 13 was actually with your driver BrisVegas.

Yes mate, well aware of that. You flew it quite a bit further than me as I recall. But you're huge. I'm just a short knocker. Jamie came close to driving the 18th one day with my driver too... At least I know what potential my sticks have!

Got a mate who is a softballer who regularly cranks them out over 300m. I've only seen him play once, but I watched him drive the 320m 1st at my home club, then to back it up, the 330m 15th. Did I mention he's probably the worlds best softball batter?

If you didn't see where it finished, it's stroke and

About 340~ish metres on the Par 4 5th hole at Araluen. Normally,
anything that gets over the fairway bunker rolls out to about
280m+ but three weeks ago the fairways were so dry that my ball
kept rolling right down past the green and off into the
scrub.

I just assumed it stopped at Portland, perhaps it got caught in a hoof and boarded the boat to Dubai!

About 9 years ago (I had just graduated from high school the
previous week) I hit one at the Vines in a corporate day 347m
using a Titleist Professional 90 and a Great Big Bertha (Ruger
Titanium) that had a prototype version of the EI70 in it... That
was when I was younger, stronger and fitter!
More recently I have hit it 300+ on dry hard courses when I catch
one, problem is I can't hit a fairway to save myself at the
moment

I've hit a few similar ones on the same hole but about 20 years ago with a persimmon headed driver and probably using a Titleist Tour 100 Balata. If you manage to carry it over the hill and lob it on the downslope with a good bit of forward momentum it keeps running down that hill forever. I've also hit some balltearers at Penrith up the 9th, I remember a few times having little flicks in with a SW. The hole is 420m up a slight hill but during summer when the fairways dry out and you get a huge westerly blowing right behind you it's not uncommon to crank it out well over 350.

i was pin high in a gusty down wind on the 6th at Pacific Harbour - not sure how far it was though
