Australias Best Golf Coaches

After reading an article on how Hank Haney has changed tigers swing so dramatically over the last 3 years it got me thinking about Australias teachers, and which pro's are coached by whom.

I know Gary Edwin coached pampling, gow, lonard, gardiner and senior...is he our best golf teacher? if not who is?

How do these blokes shape up against the 'worlds best'? like haney, mcgetrick & harmon?

Ian Triggs has had a bit of recent success.

He was the long term coach of Peter Senior and now looks after Karrie Webb, Rachel Hetherington, John Senden and a few others.

Shame he gives everyone the same swing though.

Maybe you should go and see him Moe - it could get any worse tongue.gif

i've seen him - i used to work for him.

I once asked him for advice and his response was "give up now"

I've done a bit of a search on this but haven't found the thread, unless the thread title is particularly obtuse. Can you provide a link?

Now back to the original topic wink.gif I understand that Dale Lynch is the coach for Geoff Ogilvy. Good calling card to start with these days.

Steve Bann...

Depends who you listen to, a lot of people will say Leadbetter, Harmon, etc are all hype and no substance.

I am not sure that coaching a tour player reflects someones ability to coach a beginner...but I can see how often there is a tie in...and saying you coached the U.S. Open champ or something is a great calling card!

down and out…did ya get that?

Overnight rnd 1 leader on the Euro tour, Brad Kennedy is also coached by this guy.

Edwin's mob at the Glades.

You could try David Nable who I believe is at Lakelands. He has really helped get Andrew Buckle's game back on track.

Wayne Thomas and Martin (don't know his last name) are the teaching pros at The Heritage. There's no Laurie that I know of, unless he is very new.

The Heritage is about 35-45 minutes east-north-east of Melbourne at the entrance to the Yarra Valley.

Of course... Jim Barden, my coach! If you want someone in Brisbane go see Jim who is now at the Vic Park Driving Range. He has extensive experience with all levels of players and has spent the last five or so years taking care of the Qld Academy of Sport Golf program.

Jim can help you hit it further biggrin.gif

Same stuff. Gary Edwin, no. 1, though he would be hard to get. The other guys are super too. It would be worthwhile looking at their website.
