Hi folks, Yes, I know it's run by women. As long as it's well run and the snobbery shown to many women at male run clubs is not reversed, I don't care. I live in Kenmore and am looking for a club to join. My level of golf does not match the level of debt required to join Indooroopilly, so I'm seriously looking at McLeod. Are there any members on here willing to share their thoughts? The next closest would be Ashgrove, but that is far enough away to prevent me from sneaking on before work and Gailes Oxley are even further still. Thanks, Tony

about 20 of us played at Macleod last weekend, and from my first impression its quite a decent golf course. Dunno what the membership is there but if its good value and you have no aspirations of usurping the females then why not?
For further information, send me a PM? |

I live about 500m from Macleod..but joined Jindalee...sure it's a bit short...but if you play to your handicap at Jinders..then you'll play to it anywhere...Macleod often have discounts on joining fees...otherwise nomination is about 700 and fees approx the same...definately would join there if all my mates didn't play Jindalee already.

Subs are $900, plus there's a $660 nomination which they are currently waiving. I'm as likely to want to run for the committee of a golf club as I am to run for Federal government.

Coyote: Do you know how long they are waiving nomination fees for?? To me thats a pretty good deal...although I'm sure when I was looking into it about 12 months ago..subs were a little cheaper..but hey no nomination is a great deal anywhere!

Tiger, the deal is at least until the end of the month. http://www.mcleodgolf.com.a... I've got to drive straight past Jindalee to get to McLeod but have never played there. I must be a snob, because joining Jindalee never even entered into the equation. I'm guessing their fees are very affordable?

Yeah Jindalee is cheap as chips..not sure but normally they waive nomination round this time of year and you pay pro rata fees (as they a due again in October) 365 for the year...having said that Mcleod is a very nice course...but for me Jindalee has great atmosphere and most blokes are great to play with...also appeals to me for Wednesday and Thursday comps Wed being a 13 Hole comp normally (except 18 hole comp for Wed of every month) and Thrus 9 hole comp etc..

Macleod’s a decent course. I made an enquiry there a while back and the problem for me was that they have limited tee times for men in the comps on Saturday morning. They limit men to the 8-10am spots. Most courses do this to women on Saturday mornings. Didn’t suit me as I’ve got a young family and like to tee off around 7am so that I’m not spending all day at golf.

I have played at regularly at Oxley, McLeod, Gailes and Jindalee. Oxley is definitely the best layout and the most challenging. Gailes is very ordinary these days and IMO was always over rated as one of the best public courses in it hey day. Jindalee, is a pretty average 9 hole track and if it does not bother you that you only have to use your driver once then fine. Having said this Jindalee have a great social atmosphere after the game. McLeod is a well presented track, not at all hard from what I understand is very good value for money. Especially with the offer they are running atm.

I’ve played at Mcleods a few times and i like the course. its close to where i live and not extremely busy like most other courses around this area. Staff and members are friendly. Only problem is they are constantly doing grounds keeping there. Just make sure you ask what the groundsman are doing on that day before paying, but every time i have played there it has been a good day.
Golf is a good walk ruined! |

It all depends on what you want, If you want a challenge and a true test of your golfing ability join Oxley or Gailes, McLeod is a nice and easy walk in the park with some good holes, whereas as Jindalee, would definately say no. If its all about finances and location would say McLeod.
