ProV1/ProV1X Golf Ball

Hi,

Just wondering why some people are fussy about what ball they play. For example many people play the ProV1 & ProV1x. Which is an expensive premium ball.

In what way can the ProV1 improve a persons golf game?

For those that use them, what has happened to your game since using them? Are you making more putts or driving them straighter. Or is it just a confidence thing knowing your playing an expensive ball and your favourite player is using them?

See, i haven't used the ProV1 myself. And i can't see how i could possibly play better with a ProV1 compared to the Nike Super Soft i use sometimes.

Thanks guys.

There is the key line IMHO. Same can be said for those that feel they need to have the lastest and greatest driver, irons, wedges etc etc etc

Paying $9 plus for a golfball is IMHO a waste of money.

i just buy good quality second hand ones for about $30 a dozen 8)

good enough for me

Try the proV1x and you will see, you must try one honestly, I was a real sceptic but when I tried ,it was just awesome the difference...

I still use the laddie,[for value] but when I come across the prov's I get as much as I can out of them 8)

I went back to the normal ProV for 9...and it just wasn't working for me...
the distance off the tee wasn't there and the ball checked WAY too quickly on the chip shots...

I can defn see where the difference is with the X...the X defn clicks harder off the face, but you just know that it'll do what you want it to do...whether it be the long chip and run, or the fizzer...

but pants down...the distance off the tee is

AWESOME

with the X...leaves the ProV look like a wannabe... 8O

Used the UTRIES for the last three holes (lost the prov), and while the UTRIES feels like an X off the face, the only difference I could tell btw the two (so far) is the durability of the cover...hit a lob wedge in to the 17th from about 80 yards, the ball stopped 4 ft from the pitch mark (so that's good), but left a goatie (that's not good!)

the UTRIES can also perform the fizzer better than the ProV...

problem now is deciding what ball to use on Sunday...A10 or UTRIES...

Having a pro v1 is irrevelent for most golfers who aren't close to a single handicap as being a large percent of their game improvement, as technology has allowed alot of low spinning soft compression balls for such a cheap price (which works best with low swing speed hitters or people who spray the ball everywhere)

However if you are quite the ball striker, you will have the benefits of a much more spinning ball with short irons, quite a reasonable hot tradjectory off the tee with driver w/ length and the ability to work the ball and it doesn't tend to balloon easily
along side the damned thing feels so nice
(however there are plenty of premium balls which perform quite well for a lot less)

basically if you suck, damn you'll feel even worse losing a dozen of these $9 ball per round

if you're good, you can go lower with more confidence

The trouble is once you try the v1 you get hooked. I don't want to chop and change different types because you get used to the feel and trajectory. I tried v1x once on my winter golf trip and it seemed longer off the tee without sacrificing any feel for around the green so for the opening of the season this Sunday biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif I'm going to bust out the v1x's

have been using precept u-tri tour religiously for past 2 months, but have snuck back to pro v1s.
originally an X player, but for the durablity factor, i dont think any ball out there beats the standard pro v1. took one out for out for the first time in ages the other nite for nine, and even though i struggled to control spin on greens, still managed 1 over. i think this will be my ball of choice (again).

Why are you guys struggling to control the spin of the original PROV1?

I haven’t watched it as I don’t play ProV1 but here’s a 7 minute video for those interested, straight from the horsey looking woman’s mouth:

Since when are Pro V’s $9 a ball? Should be paying just over $4 a ball if you are smart.

I don’t like duplicating topics if there’s already an existing one, even if it’s ye olde.

I found a ProV1 on course once. Felt lovely and soft off the clubface, as I sliced it into the trees never to be found again on its first shot :-D

You gotta get a ball that matches your ability. ProV1/x have a very high spin rate if you struggle to hit a straight ball don’t use them they exacerbate the side spin as well as the back spin.

Most club golfers can’t really handle them and the only real benefit is to someone off 5 or below.

This is not a free ad for Titleist but I have just completed 4 weeks of testing golf balls ranging from Callaway, TM, Precept and Titleist. Prov1 came out on top as the best ball that suits my game.

I’ve played the Pro V1x for a while but decided to put the Velocity, NXT Tour and NXT Tour S into play just to make sure I was playing the right ball. I’m a 9 handicap and the Pro V1X came out on top for me.
