Anyone tried this? Ive found very cheap airfares domestically but want to take my clubs but they want $160 just for excess baggage.

If you use someone like Couriers Please it will be a couple of days and probably around $30. But they only do east coast I think. You have to find a place that doesn’t worry about weight. I’m pretty sure Couriers Please don’t care what it weighs, as long as it’s under 30kg and 1.5m in length. In all honesty though, I’d be looking at why the airline wants to charge so much, and perhaps look at paying $50 more with a rival airline and get the bag included.

ok ya want to send ya clubs through courier interstae where you going to be sending it to and has that person given you ok that they are happy to recieve your clubs when the clubs arrive? how much are you willing to pay to have the couriers send it… Weight is an issue as well as length depends on how the courier sends it to the next state with they send it by rail, truck or plane Now maybe you might want to get a bit friendly with some truckers that go interstate and slip them a box a beer or a good bottle of spirits or $50 they may just get them to ya destination for ya rather cheaply…. you still may have to pick them up yourself or have arranged for someone to pick them up from the truck driver… anyway good luck in ya hunt of getting the clubs there cheaply

Get a big travel bag and pack all your luggage and golf gear in it and check this in as your 1 piece of hold luggage. You can also carry 7kg of hand luggage. That is what I have done and have never been charged anything extra.
Play it as it lies, get on with it, its not life or death, its just a game! |

Is it a budget airline that wants to sting you the $160?

If it is Virgin or Jetstar they are included in your luggage. Get a travel bag if you want to take extra gear, if not, the the golf bag will be fine. This is how I always do it.

The fare return is $60 to Bris so really cheap. Certain Singaporean airline named after a big cat. Wouldn’t normally mind but I’m a bit skint.

You may be better off hiring a decent set at your destination if it’s only for a game or two. That will also provide a good excuse if you don’t play very well.

For the trouble you’re probably just better off paying a Jetstar or Virgin return and know that your clubs are travelling with you. I know its $60 return but any courier will add at least another $60-$70 return and a hell of a lot more hassle!

I ran these details through a courier service we use for work – it would be $70 each way allowing 2 days travel Via TNT

Right might even leave the clubs behind and actually enjoy myself!

It would’ve been cheaper for you to paint a smiley face on a travel cover and book a 2nd seat for “your mate”. Ferking ridiculous.
