is it fair on the club and the pro shop staff when you rock up and are wanting to have a hit on the day without making a tee time fist

yes your membership states you have full playing rights if you are a full seven day member but that doesnt mean you can just rock up and play

surely your club has the timesheets out 1-2 weeks prior to give you an oppurtunity

Also maybe worth having a talk to some of your members and see how happy they are and maybe looking at getting a section of the tee times closed just for members between say 11am and 14.00

that will give the social groups time to get a round then members and then after that green fee players

at my club we have a members section on sunday however the rest of the day is open for social groups and green fee players and members

but lets be fair as well to our club becuase if you havent made a booking and ya just rock up expecting ya can hardly blame the club for saying sorry guys but all bookings have taken up but if ya had of called up an hour ago we had a 4 spots left everything possibly could be sweet

Mate Im not just rocking up, when the sheets are released the sheets are already full with bookings the club took in advance. Not much we can do if the sheets are already full when we see them. No problem though as I can play a round at 6.30am and off course at 8am so all good.

fair enough and i did see where you was coming from as it is happening everywhere….

however alot of people think they can just rock up with out a booking on the day and walk straight onto the course…which sometimes leaves the rocker upperers on the day members pretty peeved off cos they didnt get a game due to course booked…

Tommywatson if i was in your shoes i would be having a chat with the members to see what their feelings are on this as i believe some comprimises from the club to its members can be arranged specially if there is a quite few disgruntled members on the sunday that arent getting on

fair enough they are having social groups as it does help the club survive specially when the money is tight… these social groups and green fee players should be finishing their rounds by noon no later to allow members to play the course

or have a ceretain window time for members from 11:00am untill 14:00 set aside just for members only

I think alot of people make the wrong descisions to easy when they up and move to another club when simply they can go to their club and say hey we are not happy as alot of us members are not getting a game on sunday for what ever reason that maybe becuase the bookings are not coming out until 2 weeks before hand and when they do come out they are totally booked out before members get a chance due to social group bookings…

if you have a fair and reasonable and approachable commitee they should listen to you as well as other members concerns so they can rectify this for the members

the commitee can not read minds of its members so sometimes the members have to give the commitee a push in the right direction…

I dont think clubs are going to stop having social groups or green fee players these days and the members of the club particularly the 6-7 day members also have to be somewhat flexible for a club to survive.. although i dont think the members should have to give up the entire sunday for these groups

Thanks for your feedback mate, its one of those issues where clubs need the extra cash but unfortunately at the expense of members. Might join the local PuttPutt course and then I can just relax as I have a beer under lights and bounce my putts in on the side rails :)
