Golflink numbers

Can anyone tell me the date when club members were initially allocated Golflink numbers? I think virtually all our long term members seem to have GL numbers allocated in alphabetical order, interested in finding out when this happened. Thanks.

Callaway Diablo Edge kit – magic. 11deg driver, 3 & 5 woods, 3,4,5 hybrids, 4 through SW irons plus GW, all with senior flex graphite shafts, and Odyssey White Ice #9 putter. 5 wood, & 4 and 5 irons tend to get left behind.

Depends on when your club first joined Golflink. My club joined in 2005, some were much earlier, some much later.

The easiest way to populate the club’s first GolfLink database was to send a spreadsheet with all the columns corresponding to the fields. If the spreadsheet was in alphabetical order by surname, members would have been allocated numbers based on the alpha order.

New members receive a number when added. It may be after the last-used number, or sometimes when another member has been deleted, they’ll receive a number that fills up the gaps.

the break down of the numbers from my understanding is that part of the number indicates the state, part indicates the club and the last part is just the club membership number allocated by your own club. this might explain the point you raise

I know all the members at my club have numbers starting with 21408 which indicates our club. the last 5 digits are your club membership number.

a mate at a neighbouring club has 21410 followed by his club membership number

I understand the basis of the club numbers, and have a .pdf of all of the numbers sorted by State. Was interested in the process whereby clubs moved from their own handicap databases to Golflink. Whether it happened gradually over a few months or some clubs only joining after a couple of years.

We seem to have a whole tranche of members with single or two digit membership numbers, preceeded by a row of zeros, that are all in alphabetical order. Would they have been part of the first upload to Golflink back when??

Yes, Alison.
