Apparently Rory will speak honestly to the media about his walk off on Tuesday morning ahead of the WGC-Cadillac Championship at Doral in Miami.

Report here.

I reckon those Bose headphones have a lot to answer for.

Shot more than 36 points in an OOM day….seriously.
Smoldy. When only the best will do.

Smoldy. Like the Grand Canyon….one of the few things in life that when you see it, it doesn’t disappoint.

My Guess is…..they’re not talking.

Rory will be back

I hope he had the sense to personally contact Mrs Nicklaus and Honda and apologise for his insanity. I look at his eyes in that pic and see ‘road kill’.

Totally ignorant about almost everything except golf.

Hes joined nike

Tiger does this a lot!

Withdrawing when playing badly!

Im not going to bag rory because till now hess been all class.

Golf is only a game…Yeah right who are you kidding?

So it’s Nike’s fault is it?

It’s only the Internet guys. This is NOT real life….

Rory to come clean on walkout and wisdom teeth.

I think it’s a good idea for him to clean his wisdom teeth. If you don’t look after them they can cause a lot of problems.

Runner up (with Mark Gibson), 3 legged race, North Ainslie Primary School athletics carnival, 1966.

I was going to get Nike gear but was warned that the Cavity can become painful around the wisdom area so gave them a miss.

Im the other Tom Watson and I once got a Bronze Medallion Lifesaving Certificate whilst wearing striped pyjamas.

I don’t like having a painful cavity either.

Anyway its no big deal that he didnt play or win as I enjoyed watching a new winner Michael Dot Thomson.

Turn it up Dave, next you’ll be blaming Tiger for Northern Ireland’s lack of fluoridation : )

This space for rent.

He played poor early last season too

In the bag:
TM R11 – AVIXcore black
TM RBZ tour 3
Nike 2 iron
TM 18 degree
Mizuno MP-68 4-PW
Vokey 50, 56 & 62

didnt blame nike just saying their company isnt what everyone thinks it is

yes they pay top dollar but Rory would be doing more work to justify those dollars…speaking with sponsors…wining and dining

all that goes with sponsorship dollars

rory is quiet lad from Northern Ireland and I dont pick him for all that kind of stuff

sponsors dont just give you 5 million to use their golf clubs

the contracts are filled with all sorts of promotional activities – all of which takes time and energy

they dont just give you the coin for using a club with a swoosh on it

Golf is only a game…Yeah right who are you kidding?

Come now Dave. Nike is a business. It’s there to make money. I don’t for one second think of it as a community service organisation. Having said that, Livestrong is a noble charitable pursuit. But back on topic; did you hear the marketing drivel coming out of Phil Mickelson’s mouth when he made some ‘throwaway lines’ about how great his new Callaway driver was? He went on about how he’s hitting more fairways blah, blah, blah. It was like he was now able to part the Red Sea with it.

Point being => They all market the crap out of their products. Advertising. Product placement. Scripted “ad libbing”. Whatever it takes.

Im saying that the extra resonsibilities he would have with nike are probabaly far greater than when he was with Titleist

I have said he will come roaring back (exscuse the pun)

in 3 months this will be a non issue

Golf is only a game…Yeah right who are you kidding?

Absolutely. I was quietly predicting early last season that he was washed up – remember all that guff about spending too much time with wozniaki etc. Maybe he is just a slow starter.

rumour going around on twitter is him and the missus have broken up…

I’m a huge fan of Rory’s “honesty is the best policy” attitude. Any sense of lying or hiding things and he’ll get ripped to shreds. Being so upfront disarms people and gives them no avenue to be a-holes. Ffs he’s only 23 or so. He summed it up perfectly by saying ””It was a mistake,” McIlroy said. “Everyone makes mistakes. I’m learning from them. Some people have the pleasure of making their mistakes in private. Most of my mistakes are in the public eye.”

Edit – I can’t link it successfully so here’s the text from the PGA website:

DORAL, Fla. —A little self-deprecating humor can go a long way.

“I’d give myself a red card for last week,” McIlroy joked, citing Manchester United’s loss a day earlier, as he opened his press conference Wednesday at Trump Doral.

When the topic turned to McIlroy’s decision to walk off the golf course mid-round five days ago at The Honda Classic, however, he was honest and apologetic.

“It was a mistake,” McIlroy said. “Everyone makes mistakes. I’m learning from them. Some people have the pleasure of making their mistakes in private. Most of my mistakes are in the public eye.”

McIlroy issued a statement after withdrawing last Friday that said he was suffering from a toothache. He reiterated Wednesday the statement was true, but he also said his mental state was not good.

“I wasn’t in a good place with my golf game, my head was all over the place,” McIlroy continued. “I realized pretty quickly that it wasn’t the right thing to do. No matter how bad I was playing, I should have stayed out there.

“There’s no excuse for quitting and it doesn’t set a good example for the kids watching me. It wasn’t good for a whole lot of reasons, for the tournaments, the people coming out watching me. I feel like I let a lot of people down with what I did last week. For that, I am very sorry.”

McIlroy held little back in his press conference, which played to a packed interview room at the Trump Doral Resort and Spa and lasted just over a half hour.
“I learned that when the tough gets going, I’ve got to stick in there a bit more and I’ve got to grind it out,” McIlroy added.

The 23-year-old World No. 1 also addressed his switch to Nike, saying his swing is the problem, not the equipment.

McIlroy spent the weekend working on the latter at The Bear’s Club under the watchful eye of his instructor Michael Bannon and after Wednesday’s session with the media headed out for a practice round with Graeme McDowell and Ian Poulter—with Bannon in tow.

“I know it’s purely the swing,” McIlroy said. “The equipment is fantastic. When I make a good swing it does exactly what I want.”

He also addressed rumors that he and tennis playing girlfriend Caroline Wozniacki had broken up, which some had speculated was at the root of his problems.

“Just because I have a bad day on the golf course, and Caroline loses a match, does not mean we are breaking up,” he said.

McIlroy will tee off at 11:53 a.m. ET on Thursday with Tiger Woods and Luke Donald.

“I actually think in the long run, Friday will be a blessing in disguise,” McIlroy said. “It sort of released a valve and all that pressure that I’ve been putting on myself just went away.

“It’s not life or death out there. It’s only a game. I had sort of forgotten that this year. I’ve got to remember I started to play golf because I love it. I’ve got four rounds, thankfully. I haven’t been enjoying it because I’ve been putting so much pressure on myself. I have to go out there and enjoy myself.”

Here’s his press conference. He’ back to being the friendly kid again.. Good things to come.

Rory to tee off at 2.30 today.

PING NUT

So Rory has an “honesty is the best policy” approach? Yes, that appears the case after he releases media statements based on lies that get caught out and questioned. He is certainly honest after that.

This wasn’t a hanging offence but spare us the mindless dross that this was an exercise in honesty.

1 over to Tiger’s 6 under. He’ll come good, but not overnight. I hope he makes the cut so he gets more real game time under his belt.

And obviously as he admitted the wisdom teeth reason/excuse wasn’t all of why he walked out, but man when my wisdom teeth reached the point of needing to come out it was torture. Every time I ate, or talked, or pretty much was simply awake and conscious, it caused me pain. Felt so much better once they were out and it made me realise just how much crap I’d been enduring for so long once it stopped!

So let me get this right?

Friday- “I’m not good mentally” and “my tooth hurts”

Fast forward to Wednesday- “I wasn’t good mentally and my tooth hurts but not enough to WD, I’m sorry it won’t happen again. I made a mistake”

Is mindless dross to you?

Hahaha. You crack me up . maybe you should spare US with your pessimistic dribble.

Lucky for Rory there is no cut this week.
