I really thought the PGA had a chance to do something good with this. I was hoping that they would send it sround courses that would challenge the pros.

Unless the lengthen the course then we will be looking at -30

“RACV is delighted to partner with the PGA of Australia to present this world-class event and we will work closely with the PGA to enhance this tournament including investing $5m over the next three years to make changes to the course that meet the PGA’s requirements.”

Play it as it lies, get on with it, its not life or death, its just a game!

Hey Madam, I am beating you to the news. Lift your game :-)

“If God didn’t want us to eat animals, why did he make them out of meat?”

If they use the “new nine” holes across the road and shave the greens a little and it’s a little windy that may be a good test, somehow re-route the best of the 18 holes on hotel side may make a fairly ok course, it’s good too see some birdies and the ladies always never play from the back tees anyway.I will go and watch a round or two work permitting.

So what do you reckon $5 million would buy in course improvements to make it more challenging? Other than lengthening holes, obviously, are we talking more/bigger bunkers? Adding more water hazards – is that even possible at that course?? Adding new (already matured) flora? Or are we talking something less dramatic, like making the greens hardcore? Played RP six or seven years ago. Nice track…

Tramps like us, baby we were born to run.

Totally agree…..disappointing venue…..and the PGA investing $5m….what for….why? Maybe have to spend that much over the 3 years in appearance money to get some decent players there

RACV are spending the money not the PGA. (*5)

Play it as it lies, get on with it, its not life or death, its just a game!

I wonder who will get the job of improving the course ?
Aussie or International ? If international, perhaps the fee is $2 mill !

i’m glad it’s on the coast, now i don’t have to drive anywhere to watch the men play :)

in terms of the venue, great for the crowds, there was really nowhere else on the coast that could’ve hosted it, hope island and the glades etc just couldn’t handle the crowds

and surely the money will be spent on the green complexes, every green on the course is as flat as a biscuit, and they’ll need to grow the rough up and narrow the fairways or the lads will leave this thing with it’s pants down, considering kari webb’s winning scores have regularly been in the -26 vicinity, -30 for the men is actually a very real possibility. perhaps some new back tees and turn the back 9 par 5’s into par 4’s?

all good news either way, i can’t wait

Good luck to the RACV then…...

Would rather watch a top notch field play a decent track for one of our major tourneys and really fight to break Par.

Your line of thinking will seriously detract from the potential field and overall status of the event.

Enjoyed watching the ladies at the venue. I think I’ll enjoy watching the men there too.

Ogilvy Clayton should be near the front of the queue considering RACV own the joint and OC have worked on RACV courses before (Healesville) and now. (Torquay)

I’d even go as far as saying if it stays there for three years it will unfortunately become a secondary event.

The course is nowhere near our Top 100 whichever way you look at it…..c’mon seriously…..it’s one of our three top golf tourneys???

Whether you agree or not on the calibre of course a tournament with such history should be played on, you have to agree the only reason why it’s been played there is funding from RACV…..and that’s sad….the event is being sold out.

The event has been sold out for years, Coolum was sponsoring the tournament for $1 million + and it would still be there now if Clive had dipped into his small change pocket.

It is a very average resort course, the questions is will it be a good course after the $5 million spend. It can’t get worse can it?

So I’m not allowed to enjoy it? C’mon seriously.

I actually liked the look of the course. It’s not a top 100. It’s not a terribly difficult course. But it’s a good venue to walk around and see the players. There is massive parking options nearby. So hopefully it will be a good tournament.

I expect that they’ll need to toughen the rough, and get more sand out where the big boys will be driving it. I haven’t played the greens but I saw plenty of missed short putts by the ladies so they may be tricky enough if they’re speedy. Hopefully they’ll make a good challenge out of it.

We watched Karrie when she was on fire on Saturday morning. She was hitting great drive after great drive and irons that were right at it and right distance.
