Transferring overseas handicap

I’m reading Golf Australia’s Australian Handicap System document and it indicates that if you hold a recognised overseas handicap then you don’t do three cards but instead should just have a handicap created with your overseas number as the starting point.

I have an active CONGU (UK) handicap which I assume would be recognised but have moved back to Melbourne and want to get a handicap here. Has anyone done this before?

I did, provided my historical scores from South Africa and got an official adjustment. this was via my club and not golf link.

A two-foot putt counts the same as a two-foot drive.

Yes, via your club, Mordan. But you have to provide them with the evidence (the GA doc) that you don’t need 3 cards.

I haven’t joined a club yet but will be soon and am just trying to make sure I know what I need to do.

So just to clarify OldBogey, you mean I should give them the handicapping rules just because they’re unlikely to know how to deal with an overseas handicap?

And just a handicap certificate from my club in the UK should be sufficient proof of my index?

Yes and yes.
