Golfweek: Player Advisory Council opposes ban

This last paragraph poses an interesting point.

“Once the comment period has expired, it will be up to the USGA and R&A to decided whether a ban on anchoring is worth a potential schism in golf: the PGA Tour playing by its own rules and millions of recreational golfers ignoring the Rules of Golf.”

Although I’m one who is all for introducing restrictions on anchoring a club to your body, I wouldn’t want it at the cost of the PGA Tour playing by it’s own amended rules.

 

Oh dear. Cue the Cabbageman and the “cheat stick” accusations …

 

With the PGA of America already opposed to the ban and the potential for the PGATOUR to follow suit it’ll be interesting to see how the USGA/R&A deal with that situation.

Not quite. But is it any great surprise that a self-interest group is more concerned about themselves than the game itself.
