And two rounds is hardly evidence that her putting isn’t an issue…

I saw her miss some easy putts on both Thursday and Friday. As Dulberf said, she was often putting or chipping adjacent to the green and getting the ball into one putt territory. Her putting was very ordinary and has been for quite a while.

Runner up (with Mark Gibson), 3 legged race, North Ainslie Primary School athletics carnival, 1966.

I didn’t mean to say that it wasn’t an issue, just that the simple fact that she uses an awkward style doesn’t mean her putting is terrible. I find it interesting to observe that many of these “wunderkind” type players find an adjustment when there is some pressure on their putting, but in her case she is having just as much trouble with her ballstriking (which was her real strength as a young golfer).

Solarbear

It is true that Lonard won most of his events while working with Gary Edwin but I think you will find Lonard’s win at the Heritage Clasic in 2005 came at least twelve months after he had begun working with Leadbetter and his team as did his win at the 2007 Australian PGA Championship.

There is something about Lead I just do not like.

Lonard used to have a swing I admired and loved. Now he is reduced to a 2nd rate golfer. Last I saw him he was spraying them all over the place. A far cry from the man who could hit a driver 270-290 really tight at will.

Whether Lead teaches a good swing or is knowledgable about the swing is irrevelvant. If he is not improving his clients, he ‘sucks’ at least for them. He may have had success with a couple of players but for Wie and Lonard he is not helping them.

He is not helping the majority of golfers with the stuff he puts his name on in magazines either. Everytime I see his face I think ‘What crap is he putting his name to this month?’ and I see him swinging cricket bats with watermelons under his arms or some wierd thing.

I think this ties in a lot with Wie. Lead is very position orientated. Do this then that then the other. Its a lot to have running through a player’s head. Almost no one can play a high level of golf like that. Every facet of Wie’s golf life is like this. Over managed. It’s no wonder she can not settle in and start winning.

True, particularly when her first instinct when she was a teen (at least according to her biography) was relatively lightly coached and just allow her natural talent to shine through. She needs to get back to that sort of form – if she hit it anywhere near as well as she did when she was a junior, her form around the putting green would be relatively secondary.

You don’t come up with a putting style like wie unless you are a shit putter
