Just a casual observation on a supposed rumour but if there was absolutely nothing in it, why would the GM go public on radio? Either there’s not much doing down in Melbourne ATM or perhaps there is something there. Geez, can you imagine every golf GM going on radio to defend every golf club rumour???

Apparently it isn’t not untrue about there possibly being a supposed rumor circulating which is false, or true. But you have to ask my mum before you can comment. I’ll been through a bit of popcorn on this thread. Hope there’s more needed.

The bowling club was shut down a few months ago. Good possibility of building a supermarket or bottle shop ont that land. Would be a good income for the club

LI does seem to offer a number of innovative membership packages without joining fees.. From their website – “RDO GOLF” – GOLF AVAILABLE EVERY SECOND MONDAY IN LINE WITH THE BUILDING INDUSTRY CALENDAR RDO’S. i heard a rumour today not sure wether it was true as it came across the radio station that POPE Benedict XVI will resign this month Also i would hate to start a rumour but i heard kiwi is going to be the next Pope

Fear not Smergs, it’s just Zens way of gently backing out of a predicament when he knows that the majority are against him for his comments. (which seems to happen a fair bit) Better to leave on a semi comical note to not enrage the group any further than admit you were wrong and out of context with the majority, Or in this case, made comments that were characteristic of the person, but unfortunately confirmed that at times Zen needs to consider his words and position a little better. I suppose by making light of things and waxing lyrical, it doesn’t make him look like a total ‘Wally’.
The key to success is to learn to do something right, then do it right every time. Oh I wish….. Now a two time winner of the treasured WBT. |

Glad to see they managed to get rid of the bloody bowlers, wish we could have manged to do that at Yowani. The Yowani bowlers were a mob of blood sucking leeches, every bowler was getting a better than $350 subsidy from the golfers and they still weren’t happy with the fee levels. Really it should have worked like World Vision does with each bowler writing on a regular basis to personally thank the assigned group of golfers who were their nominal sponsors

The days of exclusive prestige members only golf clubs are over. All golf Clubs have to look at new ways to raise revenue and have club survive because they are not getting the revenue from current member base. Zen seems surprised, shocked and somewhat offended at the prospect that Long Island is thinking about a merger with another club, but I would say that any golf club committee that wasn’t looking at these options as a long term plan is also not doing their job. Its the same in natural business environment, companies are forever on look out for sale or merger or take over opportunities of other businesses, and this happens every day. Why do we not think golf clubs should not be doing the same thing.
