What is this golf game you talk of?

I’ve had lows in golf, I’ve played high for sure, but the mid thing isn’t so appealing to me.

I read here that a hole in one doesn’t count unless in a comp- so I now ask the question about hacker or not;)

What is the average handicap for a male player? Wasnt it something like 18 a few years ago but may now be a bit higher closer to 21?

If that is correct then we have a valid average to rate from.

That means 18 is not a high capper but average.

Anyone know the current average in Aus?

Would it be fair to say your HC is relative to where you play?? For instance, I play off 8 BUT I play my home track week in, week out, and I’m the greenkeeper there as well. I don’t play too often elsewhere, simply because I live in a regional area, work commitments etc etc. Now take a bloke like Francie, have a look at his golflink ‘link’ and you’ll see he is an utter nomad, more lost than Burke and Wills, yet he plays off a very respectable HC of about 11. I’m sure he’s take my coin most days of the week.

I played Huntingdale in Dec with a bloke off 7 and he was as pure a ball striker that I’ve ever played with. I was surprised he played off 7 not 1 or 2, as it was, Kingston Heath was his home track.

I think it is fair to categorizes HC’s at your home track, not across the board. At Royal Tooleybuc I’d rate it as follows….

Low: up to 3.

Low – Mid: 4-9

Mid: 10-14

High Mid: 15 – 20

High: 21 and above.

not really no.

but then again there are “genuine markers” and not….

im sure most have heard the term “he’s a genuine 6 marker”

normally refers to ones ability to play most courses in most conditions, reflective of ones handicap…..

long, short, left and right = ALL FINGERED

I’m one of the Captain’s, but I see where you’re coming from :-) We’re all pretty casual at Tooley, very rare to have any issues whether it be regarding the course or general business.

Choice !!!

According to Golfshot, since I started keeping stats for the last 10 months or so, I go around one track in +32, and others in +18, +16, +25 etc. Big variations between courses. They’re all public tracks but bouncing around from track to track would probably lead to a bigger variation in scores compared to playing the same course every week?

The only 2 membership courses I’ve played surprised me with the generosity of fairway widths, I expected harder conditions but I’ve found the public tracks I play often have less land and less staff for upkeep, so fairways are narrower, rough is chunkier and greens are more inconsistent.

Also depends on te slope rating of your course?

Current HCP: 6
Best round: 71
Hole in ones: 4
Titliest woods
Henry Griffits irons
GEL putter

If you don’t play in comps you have no need for a handicap. Therefore not a low market, so must be a hacker.
