Shanks I would note the comments re 4 Ball events…......... I have to watch 2 of these type, it is amazing how they can play crap golf but come to 4 Ball there is suddenly a turn around and then strangely back to crap golf…. If skilled at the art they bank their rounds until something comes up they might like to try and win…... If you have had 20 rounds playing say 6 shots above ones handicap and then slip in a good’un strangely enough ones handicap doesn’t get effected….. Back to playing lay down golf until the next event and hopefully do enough banking between now and then…... It does happen sadly…..

.....sadly, he’s been known to win a few 4-balls as well….has also got his name on the club honour board twice winning the 4-ball match play knockout …
Consultancy….if you’re not part of the solution, there’s big bucks to be made prolonging the problem. |

As the history of this said individual grows it would appear he is manipulating his handicap. Very sad individual ruining it for everybody else and diminishing your club in the eyes of visitors to your open competition. Very hard to undo what has been done but Golf Australia has provision to treat these manipulators via the club handicap committee. It does take a certain amount of gumption for this committee to actually do something which would likely come from a member revolt which would create a very unhappy club atmosphere. People like this do not deserve to play this great game.
Play it as it lies, get on with it, its not life or death, its just a game! |

And Shanks that is where the problem lies…..........

It just sounds stupid that someone would do that. If he’s playing a lot of golf surely his aim would be to get his HC as low as possible. Maybe it’s just me but the completion in golf is more with yourself than others. Just my 2 cents worth.
|
|
That is what the majority of golfers aim to do….... But as today’s news has shown some will go to extraordinary lengths to win….

Some people like to big note themselves & win the Big prizes Wal.

may i ask for my own interest how old this guy is? i ask because most of the most blatant cheats i’ve ever played with were basically in the 60’s or 70’s, almost as if they were trying to stock up the trophy cabinet before they die because they weren’t good at anything when they were young, haha! true story

One question? Does he support Essendon footy club???

Can actually score better duffing it short to the front of greens in Competion off huge handicaps.Still thirteen over par.

I had experience with a similar type of member some years back. Under the old system would always shoot 32 or 33 pts on the odd occasion that he played single events unless it was a big event. played off 16 when should have been on 8 or 9. He would however be in the top 3 in nearly every ambrose, major fourball or foursomes event. we put 2 things in place. Firstly we ruled that in major events you had to have played at least 5 individual events in the past 3 months. That eliminated a few players who would sit back and wait for the big trophies but this bloke just made sure he just met those criteria without busting so we sent him a letter , very carefully written so as to not be libelous, stating that in our observations he appeared to be unable to attend when singles events were occurring so we “invited” him to play off 12 as it was obvious that his other commitments were hindering his ability to get his handicap to a fair mark. That worked well.

spot on ingy…...in the high side of that bracket

Agree totally with Wal. The game is against yourself. Prizes are nice but if your manipulating your HC to simply win prizes then you cant enjoy the sport that much.

I agree with some of the commentators – what a crappy way to get enjoyment out of your golf – holding yourself back so you have mediocre rounds week after week and then a couple of good úns so that you can get up on the board. I’d give the game away well before I made it onto any board. Part of me thinks that if you want it that bad, then have it – getting your name on a silly board in a club that nobody outside will ever care about and in a way that everyone inside the club will resent and dislike you for is not worth it – a sign of real emotional messedupedness in my view.

Well I’ll be hitting par off the stick to do it… so nope… can’t see it happening from me. You? Well roll in a 94 off the stick and you’ve done it… GPJ will be ecstatic.

BMAN HOT favourite
Never argue with an idiot, they will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience. “Ledgend Status” acheived, offically endorsed by “Godly”. One half of “team Jenny” |

Nope… I’ve got a few others ahead of him GT. OOMBET looks at the likelihood of someone hitting 40pts… At SL, just can’t see BMan keeping it out of the penal rough enough. Accuracy is a premium over length at this track..
