GSM Golf Link Handicap

Hi all, I’ve been playing golf on and off for a number of years but have really got stuck into it in the last 12 months and plan on joining my preferred club (Peninsula Country Golf Club on the Mornington Peninsula) in the next 12-18 months. My brother in-law is currently a member there and I have joined him as a guest on a number of occasions. In the interim, I’d love to obtain a Golf Link handicap in order to play in some of the competitions with him, both at Peninsula and other courses.

Has any one used the GSM Golf membership to obtain a handicap. Seems good value at under $100. The other option I’ve been considering is the RACV Golf Membership at around $200.

Any feedback on these options would be great.

Cheers, Sam.

Before you invest in either, you should check to make sure that Peninsula accepts those handicaps for comp purposes. I heard that some clubs don’t.

HB, I have been a member of RACV. Its good value if you are able to take advantage of the discounts at courses nearby. Also RACV includes insurance for your clubs and while on course.

Deege – RACV is an official Golflink handicap. Not sure how clubs can not accept it.

Handicap, I’m working on it. – Edit: Feb 2013 still, working on it.

Okay, cool – I just thought that it had a rider on it that some didn’t. Happy to be wrong about it.

Im pretty sure gsm is the same and way cheaper….good luck with it.

Thanks for the replies. Will double check Peninsula accepts these before taking the plunge.

yep the racv handicap is official

The GSM one is official too.

They are both proper Australian handciaps just the same as the ones Peninsula issues. They might choose not allow visitors with these handicaps to play (like some Sydney clubs do with Riverside Oaks) but seeing as they are a reasonably private club where you have to be a bona fide guest, I doubt that they would do that.
