Got rained out yesterday after 4 holes – as did most of the afternoon field. I returned my card marked NSR. Golflink shows my score for the round as 29 in the net column. My playing partners all had different numbers in the net column. Is this stableford points or net stroke? And where did the figure of 29 come from?

Post your golf link number….. That will help with an answer

Brianwh, had the same thing a while ago, think it defaults to the worst round in your 20. Could be and usually am wrong.

was the comp cancelled? – my understanding if the comp was cancelled then it doesn’t count at all and nothing should have been entrered into golflink I could be wrong but we got rained out 4 or 5 times during winter and no score was put in if you NR in stroke round then thats different as the comp was completed
Golf is only a game…Yeah right who are you kidding? |

Malvern, I just checked the GL record of one of our members who I know had NCR’d recently. He has two of them in his last 20 and they both equal his worst score. It seems you are correct. The other alternative is to search for it on the GL website.

It would seem that the comp wasn’t cancelled. There may have been many that completed the comp. It should also be kept in mind that sheltering from bad weather is no excuse for delaying play. So I expect the club decided to not cancel.

Yeah, it defaults to the same as your worst score in your current 20 as stated

Thanks for these replies although none of them are exactly supported by what I’m seeing in my Golflink. Could it be your worst round in the last 10? The competition was not cancelled as players in morning time slots all finished. Heavy rain came during the afternoon and although a few die-hards finished – mostly those near the end of their rounds – conditions became unplayable particularly on some greens. (NB: It was the view of our group (and obviously most others) that the course was unplayable, not the committees.) My golflink number is: 2200800859

The correct procedure is that people who withdraw due to severe weather, and do not have a history of NCRs, should receive a “No Score – Approved”. A memo was sent to every club about 2 or 3 years back for this.

checked your golflink and what we indicated is correct. you have been given a score of 20 ( the score listed under ” played to”) which is equal to the worst score in your current list of 20 rounds.

That would go against the rules of golf, but I couldn’t be stuffed looking up the ref at this time of night. If the weather is that bad, the club should cancel the competition, otherwise, keep going unless lightning threatens. If lightning does threaten and the club doesn’t cancel the comp, it is up to each player to determine whether they believe there is unacceptable danger. In those circumstances, I would allow a ‘No score – Approved’. In the end, it doesn’t matter. The round was incomplete and it won’t be in your top 8.
