The main thing is the HD broadcast, after all it is 2013 and it’s been a few years since the FTA guys dropped the HD versions of their stations. Almost everything is recorded in HD these days so why the sub standard broadcasting. I sincerely hope it is all 5 live- perhaps not exclusive for the good of everyone- and I hope the WGC events fall into our lap too. Having to wait until Tuesday to watch a replay of the final round was beyond ridiculous in 2012.

It will be good not to be interrupted every 30 seconds with advertisements during all the majors this year- if it is the case.

Exclusive would suck for the many of us without Foxtel :-(

maybe the foxtel version could be add free and extra interviews – extra cameras and jazz it up somewhat..maybe only offer fox in HD

And having it on FTA only encourages people to not pay for Foxtel.

I don’t feel sorry for the FTA people. Most first world countries in the world have a subscription style service, if you want the best coverage, in HD, live, then open the wallet. And before the whinging and whining starts, if you can afford to play golf, you can afford foxtel. National events, Aust Open, Masters and PGA should be free for all, but if you want to watch live golf @ the majors stop being a tight ass. Cue tears…..

It’s amazing how often dole bludgers outside Centrelink can afford to smoke. At least they prove that if people want something badly enough they can find a way to afford it.

Bloody pathetic if it’s true. Not everyone has a spare $500 per annum to spend on Fox. For those who choose to applaud this decision, you might like to remember that by taking the viewing of the important (only) golf television events away from the masses, you reduce the game’s exposure.

I would have thought that with golf clubs and golf in general currently going through some of the toughest times they have ever seen, the more people who are able to watch the game being played at the highest level, the more who might actually get the bug.

OOBS, the FTA channels treat golf viewers with zero respect and do not deserve to have rights to the golf. Screw them. Too bad you can’t afford Foxtel, maybe you could sacrifice something else instead.

Cough cough….. You forget that Ten made a huge loss on the US Masters and WGC events in 2012. So much so that they appear to be ditching their agreement. I work close to shops and food places – coffeee shop right next door

on average I was buying 2 cofees a day and probably take away food 3 times a week (mainly lunches)

that was about 70-80 bucks a week, throw in friday take away and there is 120 bucks er week….hell foxtel is only 25 bucks a week for full package about $3.50 a day…..start thinking people…$3.50per day for full HD sports pack!

wife simply said if I want foxtel I need to give up take away cofee and drink instant – done

and give up junk food or buying salad rolls. And make my beer last a bit longer than 2 weeks – A slab (24) now last’s me a month

If I’m going to be totally honest, I really resent the fact that nowadays you have to pay for something which used to be free. It’s a bit like using Eastlink where there’s a toll.

The reality is, all of us me included, will have to accept that if you want to watch golf you’ll have to pay for the privilege. Unfortunately, there will be many other sports and programs of interest which will go the same way.

The good news is, nobody is forcing you to watch anything and think of what you could do with all that extra free time. I think I just might go outside and mow the lawn!!!

3 to 4 beers a week dave, thats very impressive, I brew my own beer, cheap as and i can’t drink it quick enough, its now a hobby of mine.
I have my foxtel subscription for the AFL and NRL coverage, it is that much better than FTA’s average SD coverage. I have a 64 inch flat screen and I hate missing a game, getting the golf on pay would just be a bonus. I wouldn’t pay for it solely for golf coverage.
