Par on a Par 3 with a Hole in One

Thought I would see if there are any other sad souls out there that have put their first shot on a Par 3 Out of Bounds or in the Drink and had to reload from the tee and then holed it for par. My brother (who has never had a hole in one and we have never seen one in our group) had the sad/happy moment today at the 5th at Windaroo in Brisbane. He took it well. Not sure if I would have.

RTL (Steve Bowditch) did it in a comp last year I believe…..first shot OOB, second shot ace.
Show up, keep up, shut up. |

Played with a guy once who thought his tee shot was oob teedup a provisional which he holed. We found his first just inside the fence, he tried to play left handed which ended in a bunker, took 2 to get out and 2 putted for 6.

You have to wonder why he looked for it.

First, go and take the provvy out of the hole thus making it the ball in play. Then go and look to see if you can retrieve the first one.

Yes I have done it and it certainly gives you very mixed emotions. I was in the comp, had witnesses, the shot itself was pure and I got to see it bounce and then track straight ino the hole….............................only trouble was that it was my 2nd shot!!! At least having seen a provisional go in gives me hope I will achieve one at some stage!!!

Think smergs has completed this unfortunate event
any one else heading home to get married?? |

Yes he has. 16th at the marsh. I jokingly brought it up not knowing about this after a few errant shots from our group. Smergs thought I was takin the Mickey out of him. Which i did unwittingly, and then on purpose after he told me the story. Lol

Unfortunately it is true. With ISG’r Rohan1982 as a witness. First shot was pulled out over the 17th tee box where I lost a ball week before. Teed up the provisional. Smoked a 6 iron which pitched two foot pass the hole. Looked down to get the tee steaming for ruining the first. Ro then goes “holy sh!t, that just sucked back in”. Didn’t believe him at first but as we approached the hole it wasn’t on the green, so I knew it must have been there. To rub it in, Ro munts a shot that just makes the front of the green. Then rolls the 35ft into the hole for birdie and the win of the hole. As for the emotion… nothing good. Frustration, anger, disappointment. They’re all there. Easily the worst par of my life. The ball (TM Penta) sits in my bag waiting for the day I actually get an ace. When I do, I’ll throw it in the nearest dam with a gleeful laugh.

My old man dunked 3 in the drink on a par 3 in Hawaii. Then he holed his 4th for 7….Still never had a hole in one

Years ago a mate was playing match play for a minor grade championship. Hit his tee shot on a par 3 which is difficult to see any of the green from the tee (about 170m). He thought it was on the green but couldn’t see it so started looking over the back. Gave up and conceded the hole. As he was about to tee off on the next the following group called out from the green that he had left his ball in the hole. Aced the hole but lost the hole.
Consultancy….if you’re not part of the solution, there’s big bucks to be made prolonging the problem. |

Pretty unlucky to lose a ball on either of the par 3’s at Northcote, makes it even more painful.

One of my mates did the par 4 equivalent the other week. Knock his first one out of bounds, nearly lost his second, probably at the 4min 30 sec mark, and then holed out from 120m from the rough and trees.
