Worst 1st Tee Tee Off

Can be a bit daunting off the 1st sometimes with at least half a dozen other members waiting to tee off and watching. I always just try and get it in play with a 3/4 swing, except for this time. I decided to try and crank it and pulled it straight into a really tall tree that cuts into the fairway about 60mtrs from the tee. The ball proceeded to balloon back toward me and landed smack on the ladies tee right between the red markers. I copped all the calls as I knew a couple of the guys, “At least your on the right tee now” etc. Anyone else have a funny, weird or extreme 1st tee tale?

I’ve seen a few good examples in OOMs and other ISG events.
Like straight into the bushes at Beacon Hills and Hidden Valley.

i played with a poor gent on the west at cooly tweed here on the coast who hit a ground ball with his driver straight into the red marker about 20 metres in front of us which then proceeded to ricochet straight back over our heads onto the practise nets….

Pennants a couple of years ago and my opponent cold tops his drive off the first about 20 metres. I actually felt more nervous hoping I wouldn’t do similar so I opted for a 3 iron off the tee.

Shanked it 65 metres into the shit at 45 degrees.

Ist tee shot is the only important shot because everyone can see it : )

This space for rent.

state amateur tourny, 2iron off the first straight into the ball washer, ball ended up behind me on putting green near proshop

long, short, left and right = ALL FINGERED

1st crack at club champs and i reckon my worst ever drive on the first since being a member, severe slice 2 and a half fairways away…seem to recall the nicely struck recovery ricochet off a branch into deep skata as it flighted toward the said fairway…what a start

More tigerish than a wounded TIGER

Raging hangover, nice smooth practice swing, then hit the ball about 1.5cm. In front of 25 odd blokes. Proceeded to cold top the next 20m, just past the ladies. Dropped a 40ft putt for bogey, and my playing partners still can’t believe it 15 years later.

Took a massive swing to try and out drive my partner, don’t know how but the ball went underneath me between my legs.

I will break 90 this year.

It is NOT my age.

It is NOT for 9

Once again I am the reserve moderator ( officially unofficial ) after stink if he decides to come back.

2 days after hitting every fairway at Moonah Legends, line up on the first at Heritage St Johns in front of some of the ISG elite…and cold top a 3W into the scrub, lost, for my one and only wipe of the day.

Shot more than 36 points in an OOM day….seriously.
Smoldy. When only the best will do.

NAGA-free in 013.

Smoldy. Yeah.

hmmm and the funny thing was the ball only trickled into the scrub… that ball should have been findable…

to me that was a great starting hole

well my worst one would have been in first ever comp came well i had only just taken up golf as well prolly only 2-3 weeks into getting addicted to the game

had a fish and fell clean on me ass…..my 2nd shot of the tee well that had only gone as far as vistors tee and guess what my 3rd didnt make it past the ladies.. i think i had about 12 strokes that hole.

felt sorry for my playing partners that day…they new it was my first comp but heck it was 1 game i would lke to forget but it was the start of something that has giving me an addiction

ya just gotta love the game of golf

i probably have alot of others but it was the first one that i entered

Have told this one before, but always enjoy repeating it.

Was playing in a social club at Oxley. There were about 40 guys all waiting at the 10th tee (our first). One of the guys in the first group has skied his drive off the toe at right angles. It’s flown over some trees and landed on the 16th green some 60 m away and started tracking for the hole. The cheers and groans as it rolled towards the hole, finally lipping out, stopping about 2 inches away were something you don’t get to often.

not mine, but worst would have to be IBF at St Andrews in The Open. You can find it on youtube. Hooked across the 18th and into the township of St Andrews. Hard to watch. 99% of hacks couldn’t even do it if they aimed that way :)

At an Open Day my regular playing partner and I watched a visitor tug his T Shot 20mtrs to the right of tee… left handed player…. We offered kind thoughts and the player said…
” I am so happy, at least now if I slice I shouldn’t go out of bounds. last year I was playing 9 off this #@%ing tee!!!!!!!”

I smacked it into the front tee marker once, it landed on a fairway right of ours…Made 5 (par 4)

Golf is only a game…Yeah right who are you kidding?

Poor kid in the junior tourny at Kingston Heath on Tuesday,
Driver bounced 1’ behind the ball and missed completly, kid throws club to the ground and it hits ball tipping it off the tee, club then does a back flip and hits the ball again.
He then played a beautifull driver off the deck about 165 straight into the biggest bunker around.
Took a while to see a smile on his face.

LOFT. the real reason why my handicap is where it is!
Don’t know about LOFT I’ve got the IBF’s
Became a Grandpa 12/4/12, a furure caddy in waiting.

Yesterdays comp…. hit a low shanky cut drive into the safety fence on the side on the tee ( went obout 50 metres), all the boys givin it to me as i do a CSI to find my tee, find it. 2nd shot 3 wood to about 80 metrs out, wedge to about 2 ft under the hole, sink the putt….what bad drive ???

Recalled this to some of the boys at the 19th hole, they didnt care all they saw and remember was the drive… d’oh

Playing partner off around 11 or 12 had an airswing. It was so strange and a shock to the system that more than one bloke commented as to where the ball went ! Reloaded and three strokes later signed for a par…...... amazing.

“Golf is played between the ears”

One of my good mates is a bit of a chatter box on the course and loves to give me a bit of light hearted lip when I duff a shot.

Playing with said mate couple of years ago I hit off first, and it was pretty rank. A skied 5w that would’ve been lucky to go 50m. But it was on the fairway. In terms of crap shots, I got away with it. Well, didn’t he get into me in front of the groups waiting behind us. Apologising to the guys behind on my behalf, asking me if I was going to play this crap all day, saying he’d better call the wife and tell her he won’t be home for dinner, blah blah blah. He gave it to me!

He steps up to the plate, the big dog in hand talking about how he’s going to ‘show me how its done.’

Practice swing, practice swing. Steps up, winds up, FRESH AIR. I let out a huge roar. He glares at me with a look that suggested I better shut up of he’ll use my colon as a head cover for his driver.
He resets.
Practice swing, practice swing, deep breath. Steps up, winds up, takes a MASSIVE divot about 10cm’s behind the ball, ball still sitting proudly on the tee.
I burst into laughter and now the guys behind us are giggling. Whilst everyone is still laughing he swings and connects with a mongrel top that skips of the tee about 30m.
As he’s rushing to put his club away and get away from the tee area, one of the lads in the group behind tries to hand him his sand bucket and says to him dead pan “you’re obviously going to need this more than I am.”

LOL there is lesson in that…shut ze hell up when someone makes a blue

Golf is only a game…Yeah right who are you kidding?

Not long ago on a Monthly Medal day I managed to top my first tee off just to just off the end of the tee block, buried in long grass on a 45deg angle. Back to the bag, pull out my trusty 5 iron, the waiting crowd now a lot quieter than I remember, and a lot more smirky (bastards!) and proceed to smack it down toward some trees at the bottom of the fairway. No dramas.
We get down there and no matter what cant find it.
Looking everywhere. Time is ticking by and its about due to make a call. I tell the guys that I refuse to go back and take a drop on the end of the tee block, I will just continue to practice and tend flags for them if we dont find it in 30 more seconds.
Not only would the guys that saw me tee off be looking away feeling sorry for me when I went back, but those that had just rocked up would be thinking I had lost my tee shot, were coming back to hit again, only to see me take a drop on the end of the tee block and realise that’s where my drive went, followed by a lost ball from there. I wouldnt last 1 minute in the clubhouse after if this got out.
Forlornly I stared back, my playing partners tell me they will go back with me to provide moral support when I see my ball in amongst the trees with a look at the green.
I tell you, I nearly cried with relief.

Any shot is possible. Except in a comp round of stroke.
