I’ve gone close at times myself HiCap and it’s not a good feeling.
Some of these courses sneak up on you , whilst others (like Nambour) hit you straight in the face immediately. The extra hand umbrella holder can be useful when it gets as bad as this.

Drank over 3 litres of water on the Course on Saturday. Then sat in the bar & had another Bottle. ( Of Water.) Love these hot rounds.

exactly right smergs
i prepare with drinking heaps before play
and drink heaps while in play

have played in a 41 deg and 39 deg in the last 2 weeks
as i work outside i cope ok with the heat
actually more tired the next day

goldy has said i piss more than a Labrador puppy….

any one else heading home to get married??

I’ve played in 40deg heat, 5 deg heat. Rain, sun, wind, hail, I think there was snow at one round too.

Dress properly. Drink properly. Eat properly.

And if it’s too hot for you, don’t play. I love a good challenge as much as the next, but I ain’t going to die for a birdie…

But other than that, nice bait… you caught a few.

Played in a couple days over 40 and made sure drank plenty of water and a sports drink, had a freezer block in the bag with the water sitting next to it and the water was still cold 4 hours later. I drink a litre of water before playing and start the sports drink on he second hole and every tap I get near I have a drink and refill one of the water bottles as soon as its empty. I keep a sandwich on ice as well. I might have to mark my territory every 20 minutes or so but better to be hydrated and have enough food on board then be dehydrated and struggling to cope. I was diagnosed as diabetic nearly 12 months ago and have to balance food and fluid intake to prevent any issues with having a hypo or a hyper.

I drink lots and carry spares. I also have water for wetting the hat and shirt if need be. If the sun’s strong I’ll put the brolly up.

Just plod slowly up the hills without busting a gut. Actually with a gut my size, perhaps I should ‘bust’ it.

Does Nambour golf course still have that motorised rope that drags u up the hill on the 18th?

We had a fellow drop over at work the other day at 8:00 am. He had played 3 holes. He is early 60’s and had a 600ml water bottle and I checked the contents and it didn’t look like it had had water in it at all.
He suffered concussion as he asked about 10 times were he was when he fell, he didn’t remember falling, losing his ball on the previous hole or hitting his tee shot. Ambos took him to hospital, so see how he faired when I see him again.
We don’t have town water at our course, so the onus is on golfers to bring their own. We do provide coolers and cups on various tees and there are a couple of water tanks that we transfer drinking water to, but we are adults and we should know to prepare properly for when the weather is as hot as it has been.
As Tol can attest, our course is quite hilly.

Bring your daughter to the slaughterrrrrrrrrrr

I played in 43+ heat at Katherine in NT a couple of summers ago. Not a soul on the course but yours truly. I think I was downing a full 1.5L bottle of water every 4-5 holes. Loved it.

Also played in -5C in Europe with frozen greens (bounces like tarmac) and tees (you learn to tee it up real high as the tees will barely dent the soil). Had to wear 5 layers, had gloves, beanie, hand warmers etc…

Whatever the conditions: be smart, be prepared.

Last time I played 18 it was 38 and really muggy, I drank 2 litre of water and 2 litres of Gatorade and didn’t need to piss because it was all coming out as sweat!

I’ve been in Fiji for 5 days and got another week here, couple of games planned…..... So I’ll let you all know what it’s like playing in some real heat!! ;)

(kids have finally worn themselves out and needed a sleep, so I can have some time away from the pool in some air-con, dam it’s hot over here!! haha)

grooveless, the only way to play golf……

now a ’groove-snob’, and never going back!! :)
