Ball splitting in half

Maybe this should be in the rule section, but if you hit a ball of the tee (or from anywhere, I guess) and it breaks in two pieces, what happens. It happened to a bloke I know a couple of weeks back, and he asked me what the rule is. I said I had no idea, but I would ask someone, so let me know.

“If God didn’t want us to eat animals, why did he make them out of meat?”

Pretty sure you replay the ball without penalty but if I’m wrong ill happily stand corrected.

Thanks Maxx. I thought that might be the case, but wasn’t 100%.

Someone actually told him to go to where the largest part of the ball was, drop, and play his second from there. I didn’t think that sounded right.

Now everyone knows I am a lazy prick who can’t read. I could have looked it up, but I trust people on here more than some stupid rule book :-)

I love the rules forum.

Ask a question about the rules.

And then get 50 lashes of the rattan because you haven’t read the rule book.

Not all….but some.

Shot more than 36 points in an OOM day….seriously.

Damn straight Frank. It took me all of half a second to decide to put it in Golf Talk.

“If God didn’t want us to eat animals, why did he make them out of meat?”

Reading rules is like reading law and legislation. Best left to people with a brain in their head.

It used to be that way a very long time ago, brought in because those gutta balls would often crack into pieces. The compulsory replay of shot has been in since 1976 though.

There’s only one guy who routinely says it and considering he would be the most knowledgeable in his field of any instructor in their field on this board, I think his attitude can be overlooked.

There’s another one who doesn’t like being provoked and maybe 1 or 2 who nicely try to inform the poster he can pick up a rule book from the pro shop (but it always comes across as a bit “read the rule book”ish to me.)

It’s only when the ISG cavalry come to their mate’s aid with +1’s does the forum start to resemble the mayhem in the other forums on here.
