he is playing, and putting like absolute rubbish in abu dhabi right now

+2 through 13

In the post round interview he stated that he drove & putted poorly. That being the case, the score is not surprising.

I’ll reserve my judgement until after the Masters…but the switch to Nike is off to a bad start.
Maybe it was just about the money after all?

A) He wouldn’t have touched a nike club until $$$ were spoken about.

I don’t think so. Making sniping comments like in the full post indicate you’ve made a judgment now. Or do you wish to have one foot either side of the fence each week until you can make that ‘convincing and authoritative’ statement following the Masters?

…but the switch to Nike is off to a bad start.

Judgement after just one round? What about his missed cuts early last season. Was that to do with Titleist clubs? Applying your current reasoning it must’ve been.

Maybe it was just about the money after all?

They’re professional golfers. It’s all about the money … with the one exception that no professional golfer is going to sign up for equipment that will destroy his career.

You’ve got me TTR.
You’ve systematically destroyed my argument and rendered me as someone with no credibility whatsoever.
But his first competitive round with his new clubs is by definition “the start”, and it was a bad one, even by his own admission.
So if you are going to disagree with that then you are just going to come across as an uppity fucknuckle, although that may have already been established

I object to the racist taunt of uppity fucknuckle, it also comes across as homophobic….........leave the uppity people out of this, and stop referring to knucklefuckers as anything other than happy go lucky knuckle heads…...

Sorry Mick, you are right. He gives uppity fucknucklers a bad name and is in a league of his own

Guru, are you saying the defenders of Nike Golf are sex knucklers?

Totally ignorant about almost everything except golf.

Easy Tiger. It’s called lively debate. Let’s keep the personal stuff out of it.

Rory’s own words were that he drove and putted poorly.

I’m all for lively debate TTR but oneupmanship with authoritarian overtones paints you as a dickhead, and you’re a serial offender at that.
My point is that is it hard to justify changing clubs on the basis that they’ll improve your performance when you are already world number 1 and an “awesome” driver as you pointed out.
So therefore changing to Nike is highly likely to not be about performance and to be primarily about money.
In his first round yesterday he hit his new Nike driver like a dog.
If you can find a way to disagree with all of that then good luck to you, you’re a lost cause

Rory has switched out a full bags of clubs and it will take a while to get comfy with them all. The 3 wood, sand wedge and putter usually take the longest to get set with. Give it 6 months before passing judgement.

Looks like he put the Scotty Cameron back in the bag for the second round, not that it is helping him.

Was looking forward to seeing him and tiger play, since it is a tourny that is on a suitable time zone for us but it has been a train wreck for both of them; maybe they bet on each other to finish at the bottom of the leaderboard.

Where’s Porter?

FFS, for the second time => it’s ALL about the money. He’s a professional golfer. He’s not doing it for charity. Neither are the other professional golfers.

Definitely Scotty putter.

Boy he must have loved that awesome Nike putter.

D4show….tigers just putting it out there to make his new mate RORS feel good…....LOL.

Just goes to show what a perverse game golf is. It’s fun watching the best players in the world struggle to post a score. It may not be fun for the players and their teams – the only way to getting it right is overcoming wrongs.:-)

Totally ignorant about almost everything except golf.

FFS TTR, why are you having a go at me if we agree?
Bushy is the one who can’t accept the switch was about money.
You’ve got some kind of pathological streak in you…and as pointed out, the Nike putter is already back in th cupboard

“Is that you’re real hair?”......”yes it is, and you get a free drop out of those weeds”........

Disappointed

Not happy Jan…

Had no idea on the ruling and that tiger is out now. It always amazes watching tournaments and on the rare occasion when professional players do not know proper rulings, they should know everything inside and out; is this their full time job or not?

Looks like Rory has spent too much time lazing around and not getting use to his new gear, will be interesting when he comes back in four weeks. Doesn’t look great for Nike, ironically the rookie Henley is flying the flag, wonder how much he cost compared to these two.

Interesting Henley has an older driver in his bag,

VR S

Saw someone mention other staffers spraying the Covert all over the place as well.

I’m just as surprised he didn’t call for an official. These days they’re everywhere…

Thor Olesen is doing a good job in his Nike debut as well as Henley while Paul Casey is starting to find a bit after an injury plagued 2012. I think Justin Rose will overtake Luke Donald in the OWGR, he is really hitting it well..
