Actually 1 and 2 as of yesterday. Luke Donald has slipped to third due to the calculation of the OGWR’s. Much like our handicaps, it’s a rolling 2 year sample.

Donald needs to get away from Mizuno and move on to some decent gear. His putting stats from inside 10 ft for 2012 were astounding. With those putting stats he should be still no1. :)

luke needs some more distance off the tee as well if he really wants to shake up the big boys, some more length combined with his short game would be a lethal combo

and yes, the nike ad is great, can’t wait for more of them.

must admit, i can’t help but think these two guys on the same roster and the little rivalry they seem to share could have them both secretly putting in a ton of work to out-do each other, could end up with them both fighting for those top two positions for a long time

I’m not sure a change of irons is the key.. He’s never had great power or accuracy off the tee, I don’t think that will be disputed, but last year (2011) was a phenomenal year for him in all aspects of his game. He didn’t completely back it up this year and I would put Rory in front of Luke for 2012 by a fair margin. Speaking of putting stats I read that Rory is the only player on tour that made 100% of putts inside 4ft at non majors for the year. Something like 450 from 450…

A little stat for those who may bring the knives out if McIlroy tanks in his first couple of tourneys this year. Didn’t he perform poorly in his first couple in 2012? No one was mentioning the Titleist clubs then.

Yeah knives were out early saying he lost focus due to his girlfriend. Then wins and all is forgotten.

If he had of lost in his singles at the ryder cup imagine what the press would have said – he arrived with about 8 minutes to spare

Yeah I tried. It was brought up during the Hyundai Tournament of Champions with a Shotlink graphic and the total putts made, it was in the vicinity of 450… I thought the same thing though, but apparently shotlink doesnt lie…

Agree but like any of us his mind must be playing tricks on him re his new equipment…..a few doubts surely.

Being in Brizzy a week and a half ago watching his bird playing tennis under the circumstances was always weird to me.
