According to the Spreets site, they sold 492 of these deals. Given the time frame offered to redeem the vouchers, Keysborough were always going to be pushing to have enough carts available to honour the agreement.

I also noted that the site suggested Keysborough was part of the famous Melbourne Sandbelt. Hardly think so. It’s a good course, but I’d be very surprised if any of the “real” sandbelt clubs would be welcoming Keysy as a new member of that elite little group!!

The use of the word “crook”in the original post is a bit unfair. I’m sure they didn’t do any of this on purpose and were merely overwhelmed by the response. That said, they must honour the deals sold or at least make a suitable arrangement which is agreeable to all parties.

Practice doesn’t make perfect – it just ingrains bad habits.

Agreed particularly make suitable arrangements, don’t let it slide compromise and take something in place of the cart

They say it is located on the sandbelt, which it is. But you’re right, Keysborough won’t ever be included in The Melbourne Sandbelt.

I am not a member of Keysborough for the record, but

D4S, god you are such a wanker.

To the original poster,

I would struggle to believe that if you booked “well in advance” as the coupon states, and booked on a monday, tuesday afternoon or thursday that you couldnt get in. I have no doubt you are trying to book in peak comp times at peak times of the year.

Like it has been said, ring Dee or Lee in the office and discuss your concerns…..

In fairness- please take a step back and review the situation before calling anyone or club a “crook”. I changes the title as that is slanderous at this point in time

Talk to someone at the club like a few readers have advised and see what their position is. They most likely didnt plan this campaign out well and got bombarded with interest in which they are struggling to cope with and not doing well in that regard by what your saying.

After you have talked with them if they have not provided a solution that makes you happy then take it a step further with whomever ie consumer affairs.

I think the club will figure out a way to fix the problem. If not then that will tell you a lot about them and their culture.

I see that Keysborough is still doing offers like this – just checked Great Rounds.com have $99 for 2 people carts and drinks. Again it comes down to how can they offer the deal if they can’t service it within the time frame. 500 deals from Spreets, x number from Great Rounds. Was thinking about it until I read this thread, now wouldn’t touch with a 40 foot pole.

In a more broad sense, I’ve bought probably 10-15 of these sort of deals and only ever had a problem once. The club just flatly refused to redeem the voucher, almost.
Basically, I’d tried to get a tee time a few times and they were always busy. I got sick of that and and just said to them to give me any time that is free, any time at all, and I’ll make it happen.
They said they didn’t have any times for voucher holders left, that they’d sold more than they could honour and I should take it up with the website. The website put it back on the course.
I was starting to crack it big time, but after a discussion with the GM at the club they gave me an ideal time for me, a profuse apology and extra drink vouchers as a kicker.

Otherwise I’ve had no real issues, although anything involving a cart can be harder to claim due to cart numbers. That said the clubs have always been willing to try and make it happen by offering alternate times or something in lieu of a cart.

If there were no stipulated playing days on the website when the voucher was purchased, then part of the attraction was to be able to play at peak times.

I find it a complete cop out to offer something, and have a tiny little asterix “subject to availability of tee times” at the bottom, when clearly there were none available in the first place.

Madam – No prob here you changing the thread title, but in fairness we bought a deal and have been snubbed and dismissed (with arrogance) so not unreasonable at all to be quite unhappy with that.

Ghetto pretty much summed up my perspective with his post, we just want what we payed for.

Hackpro – To put the blame on me for trying to redeem at peak times, they are the ones who offered it in the late Spring/Summer months, ridiculous to blame the consumer for that. Don’t think you thought that one through very well to be honest and to suggest we just play on a Monday, well there is the small matter of our jobs that gets in the way of that. Buy a voucher and then waste your annual leave or fake a sickie… Voucher ain’t such a good deal then is it.

To hear they are now offering another deal on greatrounds infuriates me a bit as it seems they have learned nothing.

I dont blame you for being unhappy I just think “crook” may be a bit strong without knowing their intent. It may be bad service, or mismanagement but “crook” means they intended to rip you off. If they did then yeah blast them – just have to be careful with that type of accusation in an online forum- for you and ISG.

Please keep us informed on your progress, I think youll end up sorting it out. If not then let us know as well.

Now I’ve replied to points raised I do have an update – my mate called to get a refund – denied. Not rapped with that but as a compromise the vouchers he purchased have been extended to March, of course that is a verbal agreement as far as I know, the voucher and printed expiry dates are not altered.

Will see how we go, I think a refund would have been appropriate and shows some common sense is being applied but an extension it will have to be. Still have another booking toward the end of December but I hold little hope we will play then.

By the way Hackpro, we booked over a month in advance, plenty of time yes? That booking was taken, confirmed and rescinded. The blame is squarely on the club, no one else. I hope they do the sensible thing and buy some carts with the money made!

No problem Madam I see where you’re coming from. I can understand the mismanagement, it was the ‘not my problem’ comment from the pro shop that made me label them crooks as I interpreted that as them fully intending to rip me off.

Don’t want to cause you guys any headaches, just a heads up to the golfing community.

No worries that is what the forums are good for we hope it does work out. Still not a great experience for you. Businesses make mistakes it’s how they resolve them that shows what they are all about.

believe me as a consumer I can understand your situation. Im not saying that I cant see your point.

I bought a cudo deal ages ago for golf world, only to find once in store heaps of signs up on sale items that it excluded these items etc…

I bought a trip to seaworld about a month ago from cudo and rang to book a time to go, what do you know??? all booked out that period, so I asked when they were not booked and they offered me plenty of other dates to go. Problem solved.

For a matter of interest, can I ask which day you are looking to play? Surely you could understand if it is comp day at peak tee times then you will struggle. Same as the holiday, school holidays in sure people will struggle…..

I guess i also got my back up with your shitty thread title, “crooks”

I know each and every staff member down there personally for a long time and not 1 single person I would call or see as a deliberate “crook”.

Hackpro, if the club is unwilling or unable to provide tee times during normal comps, then they should have been upfront and honest about it, rather than just rule out Saturdays as they say in the terms. It’s piss poor from Keysborough GC.

i wouldnt have thought they cant provide tee times during comps!

it stipulates that not cannot guarantee preferred times….

Hackpro we have been trying to get a Sunday mainly and during the time we are off work over xmas and new years I was told EVERY day Mon-Fri was no good. Even when a booking is confirmed they then cancel. I don’t care if you know them personally, you can’t defend that.

Tell me, what happens when all the members have the carts booked and more members request carts… The late ones miss out yes? Should be no different here.

Fact of the matter is we have a deal – our end was $79, their end is 2 green fees with a cart and beer SUNDAY TO FRIDAY. We kept our end of the deal, they have not at this point. End of story, it is that simple.

We may still get to play but really they should just apologise and say we didn’t anticipate such a response, you may be refunded. The words ‘not my problem’ are a disgrace. But defend it if you must…
