Yes Aloha and greetings from Oahu. TLTB survived the flight over and apart from a small inconvenience at the hands of US Customs and Border Protection is now safely ensconced in the Waikiki hotel. Today I took out the little fella, not to have a hit, but to get some relaxation time in. We went up to Oahu’s north shore and to the famous – BANZAI PIPELINE. It was quite calm and not pounding like it does in its peak. TLTB was just relaxing by the edge of the water. All of a sudden he wanted to go out and “ball-surf” the Pipeline. After the near death experience, the little fella just wanted to get back in his pouch and be on his way. He is all booked in for a round a Koolau golf club tomorrow. There is very little water at Koolau so he should feel safer. There is only thing to worry about there – fecking dinosaurs. I will provide and update tomorrow evening with the results.

The longest travelling ball made it out to the jungles of Ko’olau Golf Club today. Very tough course with zero margin for error. It is considered one of the toughest courses in the US. Has a slope rating of 153 off the tournament tees. I played the championship tees with a rating of 150. After losing 2 balls on the first three holes, I nervously walked up to the par 3 forth hole. Easiest hole on the course. 161yds (145m) downhill but into the sea breeze. Jungle left, right and back. I have some pics of TLTB in action but they are on my big camera so I will upload them on my return. Next stop Kauai Lagoons on Monday. TLTB has had plenty of Mai Tai’s and margaritas and is very relaxed at present. I have prevented him from any lei action until he completes his official duties.

Have returned home with TLTB from Hawaii. Here are some photos of Ko’olau Golf Course. Awesome golf in the middle of the jungle. TLTB sitting just on the fringe Some other shots of various holes around the course

Now for an update for TLTB visit to Kauai Lagoons. I had a small dilemma with TLTB at Kauai Lagoons. The first rule of using it only on par 3’s conflicted with the second rule of no holes with water. There are 4 par 3’s at Kauai Lagoons – ALL with water in play. So, without clear guidance from the golfing gods, I decided to play the par 3, 8th hole and with TLTB watching from the sidelines, I hit a provisional into the 169 yd downhill hole protected by a large pond at the front and right of the hole. I hit an 8 iron real sweet and put it in the heart of the green, leaving myself about 6 metre downhill put. Here I pulled the random provisional out of play and faced up with TLTB. The little fella must have felt a little upset with me for not hitting him from the tee, because he would go where I wanted him to go and I left it about a 90cm short. Made sure I put a decent strike on the par putt and TLTB responded accordingly, dropping in for par. Here are a couple of photos of the 14 and 15, signature holes for the course. 14 is a brute of a par 3, 210yds, into a right to left headwind, with a carry of about 195yds.
The 15th is a par 4 again playing into the right to left wind wanting to blow your ball into the ocean. 473 yards (433m) didn’t seem overly long, but I ended up hitting driver, 3 iron and was still about 50m short. Awesome Course overall and was a lot of fun taking TLTB to Hawaii. I am going ot play it again tomorrow on my home track and then can send it on to its next custodian.

Hey all, sorry for not updating – what with recovering from too many Mai Tai’s in Hawaii, Easter, kids on holidays and a fair bit of man love for Adam Scott I had completely forgotten about the little guy sitting in my bag. Let me know who wants it and I can stick it in the post tomorrow or Friday. I will also do an update tonight or tomorrow on when I took it out on my home track.

Ok so my update on TLTB hitting up at my local. It was a clear autumn morning on Saturday 13 April. The golfing gods were smiling on Woolooware golf course. I was already 3 down after 3 in the vs par event so I had the confidence of a virgin in a supermodel’s dressing room as I strode to the 4th. 150m straight away par 3, only real trouble is left. I pulled out TLTB and my trusty 6 iron. Took a divot that Australand would try and build a house on and left it about 10 metres short of the green. So TLTB had travelled to Hawaii and has now played his first game in The Shire. It is time for him to go on another journey. It has been fun taking guardianship of such a precious artifact but it is time to move on.
