I have a feeling that the Bunkers will be in play this weekend.
I also have an Idea that there may well be a few things being done a little differently in the near future. Re Work done by the Groundstaff.

You’ve said these things in the past and haven’t seen anything yet. I think the current management is quite fortunate the course is in pretty good shape, but not a lot is happening.

Take the limited amount of preventative work they did around the tee off areas to prevent carters from driving on the tees. Like, it would have taken them 20 minutes per tee to hammer a few pegs in the ground. Should have been done some time ago.

A club working bee would have dealt with that and other things ages ago.

Gee, we had sand for the divots at least!

Bunkers out mostly. Course is looking as good as.

11th tee was on fire! Out of 4 of us, 3 got birdies (including me)and the remaining player par. Ended up with a net 75 so a pleasing day.

Which courses do you guys play at?

JL(justlearning) and Pom are members at Willows and I’m at Townsville and a former Willows member.
Where do you play?

Just a social game at Willows or Rowes Bay. Not a member anywhere at the moment.

Both nice courses. I’m sure the lads at Willows will be happy to have you join them.

JL. Local rule stated that raked Bunkers were in play. Problem was Identifying which bunkers had been raked.
IMO most of the Bunkers had been raked.Unfortunately under that wording it is up to the individual to decide.
Wayne dropped out of about 6 bunkers during the round. I would have dropped out of 1 of them but No way would I criticize any player that dropped out of a bunker with that Local rule in place.

Pom, that was the problem. Very difficult to tell.

I would think next Saturday bunkers will be back in play without doubt. Just hope they will have been raked.

My point exactly mate. The local rule is illegal & unworkable along with being unfair as different players will interpret the rule differently.

Like when the comps off the tips but groups play off whites :)

Yes. Was playing with JL when it did. Told the group and pro shop and nothing was done. But that problems left.
Heard a rumour you guys have fresh sand. That would be nicer.

I forget where or who said it but a simple solution they made was ’ why doesn’t the club just have a social and comp tee out to avoid confusion. They’re not hard to move.’
Something I thought was a very smart and basic idea.

Aren’t the yellows social, whites and blues for comp? Reds for the girls comp only?

Easy, just remove the blues until medal day only Solves one problem.

It has been suggested. Nothing has been done about it however. Nuff said.
As far as playing from wrong tees. Group should be Disqualified!

Fresh sand? Not in the bunkers!

I got told they were now lovely, soft and fluffy…..I thought that would be a welcomed change.

Well there is new sand in there. Though I think the sprinklers need attention to stop spraying in the bunkers.

But it was much better than usual. Actually managed to get an up and down on the 5th to par it so was happy with that.

What’s the thoughts on next weekend’s Willows graded open?

I’m not too sure about the tee offs. A grade from the blues, B grade from the whites and C off the yellows.

Come on! Why would C graders have to tee off on the yellows. Not like we aren’t able to hit the ball.

Would have preferred for an open to be off the blues.

Actually the comment was made today that Saturday comps should be stroke only. Stableford and the other funny comps be a Sunday only.

I’d vote for that . Saturday stroke only alternating between the blue and white tees.

Rebel sport has reduced golf shoes. Adidas and Nike for $50 and under for anyone interested.

Townsville GC has opened it’s new day/night driving range. Just out the front of the pro shop. Haven’t tried it at night yet but it looks as if chipping and putting practice can be done and maybe even bunkers onto a green.(haven’t asked about that yet so I’ll update when sure)
