Kingston Heath Charity Day Rip Off

I played in the kingston heath charity golf day the other day, as I did a year ago.
One year ago it was $100 per head, there were nearest the pins on all the par 3s, a longest drive comp, a beat the pro hole, and A decent prize for the winner of the day. It was a great day out.
This year it was $150, there were no nearest the pins, no long drive comp, no beat the pro, the winner for the day got a KHGC polo top.
Now I don’t mind paying $150 to play the Heath a month after Tiger, but knowing what I got for my dough last year I was pretty bloody disappointed in their effort as a club.
I know its a charity day and whatever charity it goes to, good on ya, but seriously – throw in a couple of nearest the pins at least for f#@$ sake, some people were out of the comp after a couple of holes and had nothing to play for!

I also note that last year they had two full fields for the day wheras this year they had an almost full morning field and an afternoon field of about 50 players. So they probably did not end up making any more money out of it.

Was anyone else there who felt a little disappointed by the apathetic nature of this golf day?

Thought I might bring this up here to provide another option for you. RM have a charity event day this year and it even includes prizes for nearest the pin, longest drive etc. All for only $265. Could be a better choice if the KH day was a disappointment for you.

i play in 3 charity days a year, they range from $400 up to $750 for the day. I help my best mate run these days, linds has no idea about golf but is a genius at raising money for charity. he raises about 1.4m a year, the idea of these charity days is to raise money.

I can’t believe the attirude on this, piss poor.

Not at all. I was actually being a little facetious and pointing out the KH day may not have been such bad value after all. A one off $150 (KH) and $265 (RM) is great value compared to what members pay in joining fees and yearly subs. And to think someone wrote in to the club to complain about not providing prizes on a charity day. Oh and both events are great days especially if you can’t play the courses any other way.

@Gimme- no worries I thought you may have not noticed the thread date- we have so many in the archives I laugh when I see one resurrected sometimes. Interesting to see context of topic years later.

@CB I agree with you its about the funds raised and what they are used toward. People still want to see “value” nonetheless as they are also deciding on where they will donate their money.

The event organiser may not have run many before or what I see is the CEO of whomever is organising will give it to their receptionist to organise and who never played golf or run a big event before. The players though may play in several and start to compare what they are receiving.

End of the day- its about the worthy cause.

Muldude is a chopper ;-)

Hey Codboy, I’m having a charity day at Latrobe this year, only 3 spots available, $750 a head. All proceeds go to the “get StinkyKunti munted” Foundation.

I figure you could afford to pay for the 3 spots and we get Yarn and Goldy and have us a real good charity day!

You in?

What is this golf game you talk of?

http://www.golflink.com.au/...

I’m in.

And paid.

And hopefully munted by the end of the day.

That’s how I roll.

Shot more than 36 points in an OOM day….seriously.
Smoldy. When only the best will do.

Surely the trophy is a game at Kingston Heath with a bonus that your money was going to Charity.
What would you prefer a game at KH for $150 with your money to go to charity or a par 3 Charity Day for $30 with 18 nearest the pin prizes and winners prizes which include golf & accommodation packages and thrown in a free Shannon Noll concert, only downside 550k from Melbourne, will post full details soon.
