When will people start repairing pitch marks???

Seriously my Number 1 gripe…it takes two seconds, and no excuse for not having a pitch tool..you can use a tee.
I just can’t understand the inconsideration shown by so called ‘golfers’...
unraked bunkers a close second btw..
Anyone agree (or have other gripes)

anyone found to not be repairing their pitch marks on a regular basis, should, IMO, have at least one eye gouged out with their own pitch repairer!!!

power golf is accurate golf!!

Something I hate more is hitting a lovely tee shot down the guts of the fairway, straight into a divot.

Perfect shot rewarded with nothing.

Or where someone just dumps sand in a divot, effectively leaving you with a bunker shot

the greatest game ever played

Absolutely.

Or non raked bunkers, leaving you with no nice sand on which to hit from and almost playing a bare lie.

i agree with the pitchmarks and the divots in the fairway not being filled it is really annoying but as for the bunker not being raked i don’t think we should complain to much after all the bunker is a hazard.

I’ve hit some pretty good shots from sanded divots, encourages me to keep dead still on the shot and hit down on the ball.

Can we just do the right thing and repair plug-marks left by dip-$#!^$ while you are waiting for someone else to putt? Better for it to be repaired properly than having some mug lift it and kill the whole thing.

Reverse every natural instinct you have and do just the opposite of what you are inclined to do and you will probably come very close to having a perfect golf swing. – BEN HOGAN, POWER GOLF

Yes but a hazard should be equal for all.

Thats the problem.

One person hits a shot in, nice cushy lay due to fluffy raked sand.

Next person after it has not been raked bam gets penalised far more severely.

i offered to buy and install signs at my club

“fix your pitchmarks dickhe@d or i’ll fix you with my gap wedge’

but they would not take me up?????.... i even offered to walk the course after my round and encourage

i hate those people who dont fix them – i’d say i would repair 45 pitchmarks in 18 holes.. though some of them are repairs of repairs.

Only problem with that is that the dip sticks don’t know what a pitch mark repairer is in the first place.

The journey is the reward, not the destination

Pitch what????? LOL

I just bought 700 pitch repairers from Boz for my club to give away. I was hoping that they’d give them away as everyone came in for competition with a little spiel about using them.

Instead they were put in a box near the office with a note to take one. Hopefully people haven’t just handfuls for themselves. Anyway, if it helps a few blokes remember to repair their pitch marks, which may have been on my line, then I guess what I aimed to achieve has worked.

Is a pitch mark considered lie of the land ?

the greatest game ever played

Mega how hard would it have been to have said box of repairers in the same place that the scorecards get given out and you get both at the same time? Pardon my ignorance if your club doesn’t hand out score cards to players.

The journey is the reward, not the destination

Not hard never. They were put near the computer that used to be called the Tee Time Sheets. Anyway, I did my bit…

Agree with all of the above in spades but there is something that annoys me is when people rake the bunker where the ball was played from and then leave their bloody great footprints untouched!!

It’s the stupidity of it that steams me. Why bother raking and restoring something the size of scorecard but leave half the bunker in a complete mess? I am continually amazed at how often I see this phenomenon as well. I suppose being a member at a resort course you kind of expect this kind of thing.

Generally the same people who scream at the top of their lungs to each other in the middle of the round.

Deadest, 3 holes in a row I landed in divots. But not smooth divots, the typical no clue hacker divot which is a small, deep chunk. More than half the ball was covered.

Same with bunkers, always land in a place with no sand and a million rocks.

I always try to sweep rocks away when I see them, wish others had the same courtesy.

Agree about the bunkers not being raked, although some of the sand traps could have more rakes to make it easier for those who can’t be bothered walking to them.

With the wet weather our course has been pretty damp. Some of the (unfilled) divots are ginormous! 12” and more long and I didn’t know club heads were that wide! You would swear someone was out digging trenches with a mechanical digger!. I am averaging a bucket of sand per hole at the moment. Like others I have ended up in unfilled deep divots right in the mayors office position a lot lately!!

Pitch marks, I reckon I would average 6 repairs a hole and there are plenty more but I run out of time.

Unraked bunkers I find less of a problem, the bunkers are pretty hard packed after all the rain anyway . Poorly placed bunker rakes seem to be more of a problem though.

The annoyance no one has mentioned yet is electric cart tracks. I look forward (not) to when the course dries out and all the deep cart tracks through the drains down the sides of the fairways set hard as a rock and you end up in them and have to take unplayables! Grrr

That guy Aussie (or Ozzie) on the PGA show must have been tapped into this blog… He was just talking about golfers repairing pitchmarks & scuff marks after holing out

Ossie, and thanks for reminding me about the show, I had forgotten.

Just wondering, on a random point of ettiquette. I hit my pitching wedge into a green, backspinning the ball, and running down a into a hollow. But i left a nasty pitch mark in the line of my partner.

I repaired it, naturally. But then I apologised to him, just being polite. He gave me a really rather abrupt look and was just like.

“Hell dont apologise to me mate, thats golf!”...

Just wondered, is it worth apologising…? or just let it be…

Pedantic i know, just curious on your views

Yeah, i was just being polite and the bloke acted like I was an idiot…

Kind of like If i had seen he had a bad lie in a bunker, and was I had said something like.

“Sorry to see your in such a bad lie…”

I didnt think alot of it, was just wondering if this was the norm, or did i sound a bit stupid
