eBay Fakes or eBay Bargains???

Saw some that MAYBE fakes – Callaway Ft-i Drivers. Have seen them sold for $189 – fake?
The guy who sells them seems to have heaps – everyday he puts out another 2-4 ft-i’s, each starting at $189 1-day auction.
Anyone dealt with him? Was the driver real or fake?

I also purchased some Cleveland hiBore f/woods + hybrids off eBay. I’m pretty convinced they are real – they seem real – hit them and they feel good. Got them pretty cheap (approx 1/2 shop price ON SALE), so not all cheap clubs are fake i guess…

Anyone else had a great deal on eBay that turned out to be a great deal (ie it was real)??
How about the great deals that didnt turn out as great (fakes…)

I have purchased all of my sticks bar my 60 and putter off ebay.

my nike pro combo’s with graphites are great sticks, my taylor made v steel three wood goes great, and my new bang driver is just starting to hit its straps, and whether or not any of them are fakes, they still go extremely well and I cant fault them.

The price of all of them combined would be about 750 bucks, so a big saving was had as they were all purchased brand new still in wrapping.

Best deal was my second hand 53 degree cleveland wedge, bought for 28 bucks including postage, and it is hardly used,

I think you just need to be patient,

Nathan

Yea
I agree

Seems like you got some pretty good deals!

I own a fake fti ,fake cgb max and a non conforming hi-bore xl genuine driver. the fakes were imported from china ( where else). I hit them all identical distances and all are accurate as well. whilst playing at yarrawonga recently, one of the groundstaff, a scratch golfer, came to the teebox waiting for us to move on. i asked him to have a hit of the 3 drivers just to watch his beautiful swing and also to see if he could pick faults in the drivers( not telling him of the fakes)- result, 3 perfect shots. my shafts were all regs and he plays stiff. anyone who pays half price or less for a new current model driver and thinks that he’s getting an original is imo a fool! I was sceptical of how the fakes would perform but results speak for themselves. maybe I was lucky that I was supplied decent clubs.

How could you tell they were fake?
Did you get them from ebay too?
How much were they?

Does sound like you were one of the lucky ones when it comes to fakes!

because i imported them from china. $120

lol

i guess you’ve got to be open minded about the whole thing. we want to believe that the name brand stuff is magically designed , manufactured etc, and that justifies the price. i wasn’t concerned so much with the heads but with the shaft, after all , i payed a price that would normally only buy the shaft, so how could the shaft be any good. I sure was pleasantly surprised

do you know thats its against the law to ‘buy’ fake products? Just for future reference, you could get done for knowingly buying products that you knew were fake and severely penalized

Yea, but who would want to buy a fake product on purpose…they’ll just fall apart after a couple of hits (unless you’re lucky like duggs50)

It’ll be a cold day in hell before I buy golf clubs from China. When I was there, I could have bought a complete Callaway iron set for $100usd. Also could have bought yellow Viagra. Good stuff, no doubt. I do as little business with those couterfitting bastards as possible.

Just out of interest, where are the big name brand clubs manufactured? Not where they are put together, but actually made?

The key to success is to learn to do something right, then do it right every time. Oh I wish.....

china.

I brought my cleveland CG 11 Wedges from ebay. A set of 3.

It cost me the RRP of one CG 11 wedge from an Australian store for all 3 Wedges from ebay.

I had them checked out by a pro at our local golf shop and he said it was either the best imitation he has seen or they are genuine.

Either way, I seem to be able to get up and down alright with them.

I think it is too simple to just assume that ALL golf gear on ebay has to be fake.

=)

Aaah, I thought so, just needed someone to confirm. So where is the problem. The only thing that makes them fake then is that the brand name is not being sold by the brand itself. Makes Lind Golf’s options look pretty good then if they are the same clube with different marking.

Oh and just for Hack, it is not illegal to buy fakes, it is against copyright and trademark to sell them.

Have made 7 or 8 golfing purchases, full range of products and not a problem. ps: I only deal with the reputable 100% feedback guys and ask for serial #’s where possible.

I have heard that the same companies in China that are making clubs for T.M, Callaway etc. for $5 a club are producing extras & selling them “out the back door for $15 a club and making a squillion so i say let the conglomerates squeal it’s their own greed that caused the problem in the first place. 8p

Did anybody see where that went?
