Nostalga, I admit to enjoying this and being affected by it .The other day my wife was buying calendars as Christmas gifts for family and friends and I spent some time looking over the massive choices available at this calendar stall in the shopping mall.
Countries,gardens,animals ,pinups,golf courses,motor cars,cycles and many more subjects are featured but the Saturday Evening Post covers featuring Norman Rockwell’s nostalgic paintings of early America took my eye longer than the others.Marvellous art in my opinion.I remember them from when I was a boy and my favourite Aunty always bought the Saturday Evening Post.Sometimes old black and white movies with their art deco buildings, backgrounds of gardens and quiet streets with early model Chevs and Chryslers outside suburban homes, stately houses with stylish interiors and furnishings, beautiful actresses in the movies remind me of what it was like over half a century ago.I,glad I am not too old to remember those early days.Muggins
